Social Media
Whoever would have thought that a decade ago social media would have such an impact on our global environment today. Throughout this paper I will discuss the pros and cons that social media has on our global environment effecting’s global organizations and world cultures. I will discuss the impact social media has on relationships and marriages in the United States and abroad. Then I will discuss the typical personality of someone that uses social media for undefined benefits. I will discuss how users of social media should be educated and aware of the possible outcomes of posting personal information about their lives to be viewed by the public. Then I will discuss how social media has help to benefit organizations targeting potential consumers. Finally in conclusion I will discuss the impact social media is having on the young generation and potential future outcomes to their culture. In the past decade the world’s single society used to use a variety of different methods to pursue, meeting, dating, and falling into relationships. I remember from my past meeting someone meant, going to the bar, attending a social event, belonging to a singles group, being introduced by a friend, belonging to a dating site, or even traveling abroad to foreign country. Now days a higher percentage of society joins social media sites to accomplish their pursuit. Statistics say that 65 percent of adult users of social media are likely to encounter a variety of different outcomes such as new relationships which may have consequences of break ups and divorce of past relationships. (bitrebel, 2013) Is society using this social media to possibly rid bad relationships and move onto new relationships because of the convenients of social media connections? “ New alarming statistic show that the most popular social media site Facebook has help to increase the divorce rate up to 20%.According to a survey completed by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers on Facebook, more and more lawyers and spouses are coming to divorce court armed with evidence on Facebook their spouse is cheating, flirting or changing their relationship status on Facebook. In fact, the survey claims one in five divorce cases, Facebook related break ups. This is 20% and quite staggering.” (Brady, 2013) The Majority stock owner and founder of Facebook social media site have ambitions to drive values of his now publicly owned corporation seemly to have negative outcomes to United States’ culture and abroad. The question I have will society continue to endorse this social media site by participating driving users to this site or will society change because of the negative stigma Facebook has on society. The users of social media have a variety of different psychological makeups to create a diverse group networking contributors of these social media sites. Some users are innocent and just want to use social media to stay connected. “The responses were overwhelmingly positive, the report said, with one-in-five being negative. Among positive responses, the top five were: good, fun, great, interesting and convenient others are using social media sites to date and meet people.” (Gross, 2011) There are also users of social media that take advantage of people. That said, there are many people out there (both individuals and groups) that are very adept at misusing the powers of social media. Read on and be one of the people who understand just how terrible things can be if social media is misused. I am no social media “expert” and probably never will be, most of what I am to say is derived from my own experience of being a netizen. By all means please criticize!” (Uehara, 2011) Then there are users that like social media to promote themselves or business. “This is where social business networking shows its power. It enables word-of-mouth advertising to spread over the internet through networks of people all over the globe. If people like the information that you share or the products that you sell…they will tell their friends. With online social networking, that could reach a large number of people very quickly.” (social-networking, 2011) Also there are users that may have a makeup of any these personalities that are addicted to social media sites.” An addiction will cause the individual to lose out on other things on life,” he adds. “For example, spending so much time on social networks at work causes the individual to lose their job. A person can spend too much time in social networks but still are able to function adequately in life. Like any activity there is a need to find balance in what we do.” (Donley, 2011)Furthermore there are users of social media that want to harm others. Last there’s users are there that want to use your information possibly against you such as investigators, employers, personal relationships, criminals, and bullies. “While the above studies show actual correlations between social networking and negative consequences, others argue that many other negative consequences may exist that have not yet been studied. Some of the harmful effects people suggest social networking has that have not yet yielded conclusive study results include: •Encouraging poor grammar, usage, and spelling •Allowing the spread of misinformation that may be perceived as fact even in light of evidence to the contrary •Exposing children to online predators •Creating a culture in which a single mistake such as a racy picture or poorly thought-out comment can cause irreparable harm to your reputation •Decreasing productivity as workers habitually check social networking sites while they should be working •Providing information that increases the risk of identity theft •Creating a platform for cyber bullying” (Frazier, 2013) Before a person decides to use social media I believe they should be well educated as to the negative aspects of social media before exposing your personal life online. Parents especially need to protect minor siblings from possible negative exposure to online media social websites. “There are thousands of resources across the web about social media both in theory and practice. The best thing you can do to get started in earnest with social media is to educate yourself with what’s happening out there. Why This Is Important The same reason that you need a license before you can drive. You have to learn the rules of the road. Immersing yourself in practical knowledge is important to having real world perspective about what works and what doesn’t. It’s not about theory. It’s about implementation” (Walker, 2012) The presence of organizations big and small is ever growing in the social media world. Internet savvy organizations are using the internet and social media websites to target consumers. Now more than ever a small business can market there business using social media websites like Twitter, Facebook, and U Tube being Social media and inbound marketing techniques have been a boon for marketers. Not only do leads generated through social and content marketing cost half as much as traditional outbound-generated leads (see below), they also close at higher rate Read more at http://www.business2community.com/social-media/72-fascinating-social-media-marketing-facts-and-statistics-for-some of the more popular sites used to implement these social media marketing stratagies.” (Pick, 2012) The new decade of social media globilzing of the whole world in a network of pro’s and con’s effecting cultures around the world is a presence all societies need to take seriously. I think that social media is good and bad and education of how it works and how a person my use this in their personal life and business is ever important and shouldn’t be ignored. The younger generation needs to take this form of social media serious and follow ethical guidelines on how to use it there life. I’m against social media used to be overly benefited, commit a crime, misrepresent, invade privacy unwarranted, and bullies users. The United States culture needs to answer for what we do for the good of future cultures. Hopefully the direction of social media will follow a better path for future generations to come.

In conclusion, Wygant and Kelmer have similarities and differences of vision on a romantic relationship. In my opinion, Wygant’s vision on a romantic relationship communication is correct than Kelmer’s. I am sure that we can use Facebook for fun when we are single. I believe that Facebook can make the new relationship more easily acceptable, instead of life romance, where people can find out feelings to each other by the natural way, through eye contact and talk; those people can more easily trust to each other, without worries to be…

After reading Marche’s article, I was confused because I disagree with his opinion of Facebook. Marche suggests that Facebook is making people lonely, but I believe that Marche’s correlation between Facebook and loneliness is mere speculation. Marche begs the question “Does the internet make people lonely or are lonely people more attracted to the internet?” (278) I agree with the Australian study “Who Uses Facebook?” The study concludes, “People who have unhappy family relationships in the first place seek companionship through other means, including Facebook.” (279)…

Social media plays a huge role in our society. Social media is a rapidly growing industry, with approximately 56% of the world’s population using some type of social networking sites as of 2012. Social media is the means in which people interact amongst others through creating, sharing and exchanging information and ideas on virtual communities or networks. The fact that social media is all around us, it makes our everyday lives easier and more convenient. The downside of having too much social media in our daily lives is that it interferes with the social development of our society. Websites such as Facebook and Twitter allows its users to exchange thoughts and have online conversations with people they may have never met before. Our society uses such websites to have conversations with one another that maybe critical or rather personal; which leaves people being unable to have a real conversation face to face. These types of online interactions weaken our social skills and may in fact harm the intelligence of the future generation. Although, social media is a huge factor in our current society, it does not have to represent who we are as individuals. Therefore, social media hinders the development of social skills because it diminishes the authenticity of intimate conversations, it weakens basic verbal skills and it causes internet addiction.…

With the advent of the Internet, mankind as a whole was faced with a number of changes. The way we did business changed. The way we bought and sold goods changed. Perhaps one of the biggest changes that the Internet brought about was the way in which we communicate with one another. Shortly after the Internet reached unforeseen heights, social media sites, such as MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr were launched. While some may argue that the Internet, and social media websites in particular, have had a negative impact on the ways in which we communicate and on our interpersonal relationships, this paper will argue that social media websites have actually opened up new ways of communication, opened doors for new friendships, and even changed the way in which intimate relationships develop, bringing people closer together than ever before.…
