Raj Patel is my cousin who went to Texas A&M at College Station. He majored in computer science and earned a bachelor degree. He graduated in 2012 and is currently working as a computer system analyst where he develops and revises system design procedures and quality standards. My interview with him was very insightful and full of tips. We talked about how to maintain high grades and to be more organized. He told me how his freshman year he was completely unorganized and forgot to do his assignments on time. He soon realized how important it was to keep a planner and to write down all the exam dates and assignments in it. His second year he began to see an improvement in his grade. Furthermore, we also discussed how social life is just as important as maintaining a high GPA. …show more content…

: As a first year college student I think that adjusting to college would be one of the hardest things for me to do. Making the transition into a new environment and new relationships with new people is not the easiest thing to do when you have adapted to certain people almost all your life. I will be expected to adapt to an unfamiliar environment, adjust to different living arrangements, and develop new relationships. Living with roommates may be the first ‘test’ of my freshmen experience. I will have to face the challenge of adjusting to roommates who may have very different boundaries and individual needs than family and friends from home. My roommates and I may or may not develop close friendships, but communication and compromise can build a smoother transition. College brings a unique opportunity to interact and live with people from various backgrounds and cultures. Expanding my worldview by learning about each other’s differences and similarities will likely enhance my college…

She lost her husband 12 years ago and from then on, she lives by herself. So, I decided to invite her for a breakfast on Sunday morning and spent a little bit time together and talk. She responded to my invite with a very enthusiasm and interest. I am assuming it is because in her life there is not happening a lot of interesting events. Throughout high school I was able to develop many skills pertaining to the social aspects of college, which have really helped me. Growing up, I’ve been fortunate enough to live in a two parent, middle class home. I have never experienced death of a family member or someone close to me. I have been so lucky to have such a wonderful life. Once I started going to leadership camps, meeting kids who have had such difficulties in their lives I realized not everyone’s lives are as happy-go-lucky as mine. This has taught me to treat every individual I meet in college with compassion and kindness, as you never know what kind of life they’ve had. No one should be judged by his or her social class, friend group, how they dress, or come off in public settings. Each person has experienced some hardship in their life and thus everyone deserves their chance to show a person who they truly are. Using this mindset I have been able to make many friends in organizations such as the President’s Leadership Class in which I wouldn’t have typically met them. This predetermined view of the world has helped me graciously in college.…
