Divergent is more than a story about social injustice it’s also about personal development. With Jeanine wanting to have full control of the government the factions turn against each other and their only hope is to grow stronger, to fight for their beliefs. Jeanine uses a serum to control the minds of the dauntless and the people once again feel fear instead of the peace they were promised, and with abnegation being doubted and hated by the other factions their only ray of hope is Tris and the divergent.

Abnegation currently has control over the government over the other factions due to the fact that they are selfless and only care about other people in the other factions.
