Social Influence Of Obedience

I have encounter a lot of experiences with social influences, but out of all of them obedience stood out to me the most. Obedience is the most important social influences to me because it plays a big part of my everyday life. For example, when it comes to stopping at a stop sign, or when it comes to the rules of my job. I obey stopping at the stop sign and not speeding through it, and I also obey the rules of my job. So, when I hear the word obedience I start to think about when people obey the rules of their environment or a higher authority. As people, I feel as if we automatically feel as if we are obligated to obey or have obedience when it comes to rules, and or a higher authority figure because they have some type of power and leadership (Cite the book).
However, when it comes to my experience with one of the social influences in which is obedience. I was in my senior year of high school and one of my friends through a house party. During this house party, everything went wrong very fast, people started to shoot outside her house and of course by it being a house party we had alcohol in the house and majority of us were minors. Due to that act of violence, the neighbors called the police and said that it was a party next
The officers exhibited a power by the name of coercive power. Coercive powers is when you inflict punishment and threaten others in order to get them to cooperate with you and answer the question you want them too (Gamble, T. and Gamble, M., 2013, p. ). The officers did this because they knew that they had the higher hand and by me looking nervous they already knew that I would obey and answer any question that they wanted to know. Their body language also had a lot to do with everything, they were very firm when it came to talking to me, and they also had a straight posture. They stood as if they should be shown respect of course because they had their uniforms
