It was a profit for only the owners because the slaves were not paid for their labor. Slaves were forced to work in harsh conditions and physical abuse. There are many ways to become a slave like through debt, warfare, crime, and the worst way was through being captured and kidnapped. This caused the slave trade from Africa to America. Just by looking at the Slave Trade, one can see how the minority was at a disadvantage.
This system of stratification is still going on today; one can examine human trafficking and sex slaves. There are even people that are in America that will support slavery elsewhere in the world, because it satisfies the demand of products. Social class is based on access to such resources as wealth, power and prestige. It is less ridged than the caste system. If I was in the caste system I would not be able to change my ranking in society. If my great-grandfather was working class, then I am in the working class, however, the social system allows people to change their status. For an example, my family is in the working class, but it does not make it so that I will only be in the working class ranking as I get older. I am also able to move up in the material status by making my own money and getting the education needed. There are only a percent of upper classmen ladder and thirty percent in the working
