Principles of Professional Practice (H29S 34)
The purpose of this essay is to compare the professional journeys undertaken by student nurses to become a mental health nurse, and a pediatric nurse.

The duration of this course is 3 years and throughout this time the student’s time will be divided between university and clinical practice (National Careers Service).
A student’s progress throughout their degree is measured by assessments, coursework, exam and project work (National Careers Service).
When a Student Nurse successfully completes their degree, the university will then upload their completed course details and a declaration of good health and character to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
The NMC will then send out the application form to the student for entry onto the register. A registration officer will then review all documents, and if all is completed correctly, they will then be placed on the NMC Register.
Once registered a pediatric nurse is then required to maintain their registration every 3 years.
This can be achieved by completing 450 hours of registered work, and 35 hours of Continuing Professional Development in the previous 3 years.
An annual fee of £100 is also required to maintain their registration
