Soccer Personal Narrative
Soccer was one of the very first sports that I played when I was young. I participated in the sport for about six years before other responsibilities took over. I still missed soccer, I missed the practices, I missed the games, and I missed the fun. There were several occurrences of world matches between countries that I have watched. The envy grew as each “cup” passed. A few years ago, after watching the World Cup, I planned to buy myself some soccer shoes. However, I only purchased a ball, which was better than nothing. I dribbled it around occasionally as like said; I was busy with other activities. As this summer began, I found out there was going to be a Euro Cup and this sparked that little flame in which I still have in me. In addition to this, …show more content…
Now all I am missing was my own set of cleats. I bothered my mother on numerous occasions to get me some new cleats. We were planning to stop by at Sport Authority to get the shoes, but it was later found out that it was going out of business. The only other major sport store was Dick’s Sporting Good. Finally, yesterday we were able to go to Dick’s. There was a big tent outside in the parking lot where a large sign labeled “Clearance Sale” was hanged. Mother and I went inside of the tent and looked around. I saw a bright neon green pair of cleats and I quickly put them on. It fitted snugly and I was pleased how they look. I could not wait to go home and give a few kicks to the soccer ball. We also went inside the store to get me a new pair of running shoes. Mother found a red pair, and that also fitted accordingly to my feet. Mother was even planning to buy another pair to replace my sneakers. She said what I have right now was too heavy and she found a suitable candidate. There was a large weight difference, but it was a bit too big on me. It was unfortunate, but there were two other Dick’s Sport stores and the option of ordering the right sizes

In our second game we played Westbrook and won 5-0. So at the end of the day we were 2-0 and in first for our bracket, but winslow was also 2-0. Going into Sunday we had to beat South Portland by two goals and not let them score. We ended up tying them 3-3 and we got eliminated because Winslow beat Westbrook 4-0.…

It was a frigid, windy, Friday night in October. The only light was the bright and beaming illumination of the stadium lights projecting over the soccer field. The bleachers were full, it seemed as if the whole school was there, and as a freshman with anxiety, it made it hard to cope with the fact, that I was going to be a starter for the varsity soccer team.…

I had to deal with disappointment from teammates, coaches, parents, and, above all, myself. On the first day of tryouts my freshman year of highschool, I was kindly hypothesized to possess “potential”. I was horrified. Potential was the label given to those who stood on the brink of mediocrity; those who walked the terribly broad line of “nothing special.” I was painfully average. After being praised for my talents throughout the course of my entire soccer career, you can imagine my surprise and disappointment upon hearing the mortifying pronouncement of my amateurity. I didn’t know it at the time, but my coach did me a huge favor with his frankness. I realized that not everything in life would be handed to me on a silver platter. In fact, most of it would not. I had to prove myself worthy, not only to my coach, but to myself as well. Through my extra workout and practice sessions, I developed determination and a tireless work ethic that I apply to every facet of my life. I’ve learned how to take criticism and losses and transfigure them into improvements and…

It all started at ninth street with some friends of mine John and I started recruiting some people to come play football with us. I honestly didn’t know I had a pretty decent arm. I originally was going to start practicing to play wide receiver instead of quarterback. At the time Odell Beckham Jr. ( wide receiver for the New York Giants ) was extremely explosive and dynamic on offense. Seeing him blow up on offense made me want to try out for wide receiver. But somehow John convinced me to play quarterback.…

From the time I was five years old to the time I turned sixteen, I've played soccer. My brother, being seven years older than me, always challenged me to lead my team even when I was young. As a result, I was in control of the team's defense when on the field. Come when I turned thirteen, I was made the captain of my competitive soccer team; My duty as captain entailed delegating on-field roles to my teammates and making sure they were playing the right positions. Also, It was my duty to read the on-field situation and change our game plan to best fit our style as we played. This created a sense of flexibility that has become engrained in my brain ever since. The role of captain may not sound very applicable to an on-campus leader, yet, I'd…

Soccer has been a big part of my life growing up. The biggest thing for me going into high school, freshman year, was making the soccer team. I showed up to every summer camp training first, and would work an hour before practice every day. To get better and impress the coaches. At the end of one practice the coach pulls me aside and tells me "Keep up the good work, you have a spot on Junior Varsity." At my school for a freshman to make JV was a big deal. I was ecstatic. Just as summer camp came to an end, tryouts began. I went into tryouts with great confidence, having no doubts in my mind about what team I made. The week after tryouts they posted the teams, with the confidence I had, I told myself that I didn't even need to look. That I had…
