Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Vs Snow White and the Huntsman There are many similarities between the original text Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, written by the brothers Grimm, and the film Snow White and the Huntsman. The first similarity that is seen is in the beginning. In both the film and the text, it starts off in the middle of winter, where a Queen pricks her finger. There fell from it three drops of blood on the snow. When the Queen saw how bright and red it look, she wished for a child as white as snow, as red as blood, and as black. Not long after, the Queen had a daughter with skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, and hair as black. She named her daughter Snow White. In both versions of the story the Queen dies, and the King remarries. The maiden he marries is a beautiful, but evil woman with a magic looking-glass. The evil Queen would look in her looking-glass and ask it if she was the fairest of them all. The looking-glass would always reply that she was indeed the fairest, until one day its response was that Snow White had become the fairest of them all. This is when the evil Queen sends out for a Huntsman. The evil Queen wants Snow White dead, and her heart. But luckily for Snow White, the dwarfs she befriends saves her life several times from the evil Queen.
The differences between the text and film, however, are vast and seemingly endless. The first difference noticed is in the beginning scene. In the text, the Queen wishes for a child to be as black as the wood of the embroidery frame, but in the film, she wishes a child to be as black as a raven. Another difference in this scene in particular is in the text the Queen is sitting at a window working at her embroidery frame that was ebony.
