SMS Based Wireless E-Notice Board

Abstract – In this technical paper sms based wireless e-notice board explains how to establish an effective and reliable communication between a mobile phone and a microcontroller using GSM modem. This GSM based e-notice board has various applications used in several domains including banks, stoke exchanges, traffic control, public advertisements, educational sector i.e., in schools and colleges etc. In all the above mentioned applications we will use a GSM MODEM, but with a little change in hardware. Along with this I will explain you how this applications are used in low time-to-market and how to upgrade the software resulting low NRE(Non recurring Engineering). This technical paper plays a prominent role in the state-of-the-art scenario to develop authentic and pocket friendly products where the real time market is relentlessly shrinking. Keywords – GSM, microcontroller, MODEM ,software, mobile communication , bridge- rectifier, transformer ,interfacing ,SIM, LCD, traffic control. I. INTRODUCTION Wireless communication has announced its arrival on big stage and the world is going mobile. We want to control everything and without moving an inch. This remote control electronic notice board is possible through Embedded systems. The use of "Embedded system in communication" has given rise to many interesting applications that ensures comfort and safety to human life. GSM(Global System for Mobile Communication) is globally accessed by more than 212 countries and territories. Global system for mobile communication is optimized for duplex voice telephony. GSM, initially developed for the replacement of first generation (1G) technology, now it is upgraded for second generation (2G) technology and third generation (3G) technology[1].
With the alliance of microcontroller, GSM MODEM could be further used for some of very innovative applications including, GSM based home security system, GSM based robot control, GSM based DC

The Long Term Evolution (LTE) communications protocol is the latest and advanced 4G protocol designed by humans. This technology allows users to access high speed internet services, browsing and downloads. This protocol knows as the advancing series of mobile telecommunication system. For instance, the series of the concept of “cells” began in 1947 with development by the famous Bell Labs. In the first generation, mobile communication system view as large-scale commercial growth arrived in 1980. In the second generation knows as GSM where it was the first possibility with Second generation development. GSM define as robust, interoperable and accepted standard thanks of the collaboration of a number of companies working under the European Telecommunications Standard Institute (ETSI). This diagram below shows the mobile communications standard evolution.…

Abstract- GSM based electronic notice display system is presented in this paper, this is the model for displaying notices in college on electronic notice board by sending messages in form of SMS through mobile, it is a wireless transmission system which has very less errors and maintenance. The hardware board contains microcontroller 89c51 at the heart of the system. The microcontroller is interfaced with PC via MAX232 level convertor. It is used to convert RS232 voltage levels to TTL voltage levels and vice versa. We use PC's serial port to interface microcontroller. The hardware also has a 64K EEPROM chip AT24C64. This EEPROM is used to store the timings and messages to be displayed. Hardware also contains a real time clock DS1307 to maintain track of time. Both these ICs are interfaced with microcontroller using I2C interface. The keypad is used to set/reset parameters directly. A 4x4 keypad is attached using Row Column configuration. A 16x2 Character LCD display is attached in byte mode to port 1 of microcontroller. This display will be used to display the messages / advertisements. Microcontroller coding will be done using Embedded C and Kiel. PC Coding will be done using VB. Nokia PC Connectivity SDK is a tool used in VB for GSM Modem interfacing, this project implementation will save time, also cost efficient. a single person can handle all the work with just a message. We can use a PC with administrator for ease of message sending and keeping records.…

Abstract––Antitheft security system utilizes an embedded system design with Dual Tone Multi Frequency (DTMF) and a GSM to monitor and safeguard a car. It secures the car against theft. Upon activation, it automatically demobilizes the car by disconnecting the ignition key supply from the car battery. This now makes it impossible for anybody so starts the car, let alone moving with it. In an attempt of theft through the car doors or boot, the system sends text message to the car owner and at the same time starts up an alarm. This design popped out due to the increasing rate at which packed cars are stolen especially in our country, but with this design this packed car is being monitored irrespective of where it is packed, provided there is GSM network coverage. From the research conducted, it was found out that majority of the existing car security system uses only alarm, and doesn’t send text message to the car owner let alone of demobilizing the car. But with the use of GSM network, the owner is guaranteed that the car will send text message to his phone, and at the same time, have people around alerted of what is happening. Added to this is that the car will not be move because it has been demobilized. Keywords––Communication, DTMF, GSM, Networks, Microcontroller, Text message, Feedback.…

GSM permits the integration of different voice and data services and the interworking with the existing network. GSM is defined for three different categories of services: bearer, tele, supplementary services. Figure shows the reference model for GSM services. A mobile station (MS) is connected to the GSM public land mobile network (PLMN) via Um interface. GSM-PLMN is the infrastructure needed for GSM network. This network is connected to transit network, e.g., integrated service digital network (ISDN), or traditional public switched telephone network (PSTN). There might be additional network, the source/destination network, before another terminal TE is connected.…
