Smoking at School
One school district is far behind the times: smoking is still allowed on campus ground. But now a group of foreign leaders are now willing to change the situation. This can be viewed from several perspectives, but from the overall standpoint of mine, the discussion is about a decision which should have made 17 years ago .
It is an obvious fact that tobacco damages the health of the smokers and the health of their surroundings, especially damaging to the who are on the way to grow up, for them who are around the campus ground, the students.

Some start smoking because they think it looks cool. Others start because their someone in their environment smoke. Statistics show that about 9 out of 10 tobacco users start before they're 18 years old. And Once You Started, It's Hard to Stop Smoking. Smoking is a hard habit to break because tobacco contains nicotine, which is highly addictive.
So it is even worse that the government and school leadership supporter the smoking on campus ground for such a long time, because teenagers will accept smoking as normal. The authorities need to set an example for the students to prevent them from smoking.

Even if this behavior won’t get the students to start smoking, the well-being of them is also in danger. The children would inhale second-hand-smoke, which is even more damaging for a pupil, than for a person who is actually smoking.

All in all i think this important topic should´ve been decided a long time ago, because during this lapse the authorities were damaging the health of all the students.

Smoking is a major issue because it's the main source of death on the planet higher than infectious disease, greater then obesity, greater than guns (Share Care). Each year tobacco is killing more than 6 million people around the world (World Health Organization). Three of the primary reasons youngsters smoke to look experienced, to resemble their companions, and to analyze (From the First to the Last Ash: The History, Economics and Hazards of Tobacco). Smokers are not killing themselves by doing it, but they are killing other people by increasing their risk of lung cancer and heart disease if people are exposed to other people smoking for long periods of time. For example, lung cancer increased by about 20-30% in human being's who regularly…

It is the ethical thing to do, if you see children, to walk away before lighting a cigarette, not to smoke in front of building doors, in a car, or, in a park. Why should a child’s life be susceptible, to cancer, respiratory disease and ultimately death, because a smoker doesn’t care about theirs? Education, especially for the parents whom are smokers, need to be implemented as it pertains to their children and the effects and diseases they are exposing their children…

How often do you see cigarette buds on the streets or on the side walks as you walk or drive by? Doesn't it make the environment look trashy? I believe it is a good idea for Central Texas College to remain a smoke-free campus. If there is no smoking allowed on the campus, the campus would look much cleaner and smell cleaner. I think it should be smoke free because it will not only make the campus look clean, it will also not distract students that don't like the smell. For some reasons like students would have to walk as far as off campus to go on a "smoke break" would take them forever to come back to class and not be able to stay focused because they may be addicted and need that cigarette to concentrate.…

Smoking is a part of everyday life, although, believe it or not, it has only recently become so. As these are reasons people may smoke. Some children may begin to smoke if they have low self-esteem. Smoking may get them in with the "in crowd" and help them to make friends. If they smoke, then they will be accepted by their peers.…

Another problem is that cigarette butts are left everywhere and this could create a fire hazard. Students carelessly throw away their cigarettes butts without bothering to put them out. There are designated bins, especially for cigarettes where one could put it out and throw it away but no one actually seems to do it. Imagine, on a hot summer day someone might forget to put the cigarette out and throw it out onto the grass. The grass could catch on fire, and spread, and burn the whole building down.…

Past research has shown that having smoke free campus has had positive results in the student smoking behavior. For example, Lee, Ranney, and Goldstein (2013) has found that when the policy of having a 100% smoke free campus actually decreased the amount of cigarette butt litter that was near entrances of buildings on campus rather than a campus that did not have such a policy. Furthermore, Seo, Macy, Torabi, and Middlestadt (2011) has also discovered that smoking norms of Purdue University students were beginning to change because of the smoke-free policy. It began to come less socially acceptable to smoke. Additionally, having a policy on smoking where you must be at least 20 feet away from entrances of buildings and no smoking indoors had…

As we all know smoking causes death, it causes death more than HIV, illegal drug use, alcohol use, motor vehicle injuries, suicides, and murders combined. It causes lung cancer deaths in men and women. 90% of men and 80% of women die from lung cancer each year that percentage is way too high. Something needs to be done about cigarette smoking as soon as possible. The world allows cigarette smoking to continue on, they try to ban it in certain areas but allow it to be done in other areas. For example at many colleges they do not allow you to smoke on the premises of the school grounds, but they will allow you to smoke as long as you are in your car with the windows rolled up. That makes no sense at all, you are still smoking on school grounds and nobody ever abides the rules anyways. They will smoke in their cars but with the windows down, or they will just smoke on school grounds. The same goes for work buildings, big businesses, high schools, and etc. Cigarette smoking needs to be banned!…

Cigarettes are full of poison and toxic chemicals, the ingredients affect everything from functions of organs to body 's immune system, the damages can be widespread and fatal. Nicotine is a very toxic chemical present in cigarettes; "it reaches the brain within ten seconds after smoke is inhaled."(1) When taking a long drag of smoke, and enjoys the pleasure of tobacco smoking, the chemicals are rotting the lungs and straining the body. Among the young smokers, many are teenagers, during the recent years, age of teen smokers are decreasing, more and more students came in contract with cigarette and other drugs(2). There are many different factors contributed to the raising number of young smokers; the influence could come from school and from home. Peer pressure is associated with smoking, many students were forced into smoking by their peers; they surrender and give in to smoking because they wanted to feel cool, and most importantly to fit in. Teenagers would really commit to be able to gain acceptance. Hollywood and other media productions associate smoking with manliness, and maturity; it would be natural for students at a young age to get influenced and brain washed into…

Many establishments around our great country are taking a stand against second hand smoke. I personally applaud Central Texas College for their stand against this debilitating crisis that is sweeping through. From an early age, many people have taking up the addiction of smoking. As one who does not I hope that Central Texas College continues to take its stand against second hand smoke. For me, having clean air, not smelling of cigarette smoke, and the disgusting littering that plagues our grassy areas is some of the many reasons that smoking should not be allowed at Central Texas College.…

Smokers need a place to smoke, and a smoking area traditionally serves to provide them with such a place. Smoking area placement is often determined by city law, but traditionally requires that smokers be a certain distance from entrances or exits and dispose of their butts properly. Whether or not to have a smoking area on school grounds is a hotly debated issue, with a few disadvantages rising to the surface like the second-hand smoke, the fact that it could encourage underage smoking, and all the health risks for the smokers.…

I topic I have chosen to discuss is about the dangers of smoking tobacco at young age into adulthood. Smoking Tobacco is the leading cause of premature death in smokers and it has been linked to death of non-smokers which is known as second-hand smoke. Just like Alcohol and drug abuse, smoking tobacco is used for many reasons for example simply being cool, to fit in, peer pressure, and my parents do it. Now let’s discuss the reason why smoking tobacco is dangerous to the smokers and non-smokers.…

I walk around campus a lot and I see signs everywhere saying no smoking 500ft form doorways, but people still do it and as a student walking by and inhaling the smoke everyday is not good. I feel like the schools and other public settings where others are involved should put a ban on smoking. I believe that for a smoker the choice is theirs and I shouldn’t have to suffer with them by just merely walking by. Secondhand smoke is clearly a threat to both non smoking adults and children, so I hope we can take more actions to protect them. I also hope this speech will make smokers more aware of their surroundings and who they will be…

Tobacco smoke contains more than 4,000 chemical compounds many of which directly lead to diseases(7). Excessive smoking leads to profound health risks such as lung cancer and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). The effects of smoking are not limited to those who smoke firsthand; it inflicts harm on those around them as well. Second-hand smoke also causes very serious problems and because of the toxins inhaled by common people it can be just as bad as smoking. Banning smoking on college campuses can decrease these risks and resolve many health issues which are directly caused by smoking. According to The American Nonsmokers Rights Foundation, there are at least 1,620 campuses which have already banned the use of tobacco(10). Smoking…
