Traditional cigarettes contain between 4,000 and 7,000 harmful chemicals, many of which are produced by the tobacco and smoke. Since e-cigarettes use vapor technology, they expose users to fewer carcinogens. Some studies show e-cigarettes can be effective in smoking cessation. In multiple studies and surveys, e-cigarettes have been shown to potentially help smokers to reduce their habit or to quit altogether. One New Zealand study showed e-cigarettes to be as effective as nicotine patches. The second-hand effects are far less harmful than traditional cigarettes. Though second-hand vapor exists, the levels of smoke and secondhand effects of “vaping” are magnitudes lower than traditional smoking. They are more socially acceptable and do not smell. E-cigarettes provide the same experience and sensation for smokers – particularly those with nicotine habits – but can be used in far more places. They do not leave a sticky, unpleasant odor and do not stain teeth or fingernails.…

E-cigarette use has increased over the past few years and there are arguments on both sides of the topic. Some users use vaping to get nicotine without smoking tobacco, hoping to help them quit smoking. Other people are concerned with the fact that people have used e-cigarettes without ever smoking real tobacco before. This is a concern because these people could have an increased chance of using tobacco after being exposed to nicotine. Arguments against e-cigarettes include not completely knowing what inside of e-cigarettes and what the effects of chemicals are. Not much research exists on the contents of e-cigarettes and whether they help smokers quit tobacco.…

As a smoker myself, I have noticed a number of differences between cigarettes and e-cigarettes. The taste of a regular cigarette to me is much more satisfying than that of an e-cigarette. E-cigarettes lack the authentic tobacco taste that cigarettes have and this leads to a less pleasing smoking experience. Cigarette smoke is full of harmful toxins, whereas e-cigarettes have about 1,000 times less toxins and there is no smoke, only water vapor. This leads to why most people who aren't ready to fully quit smoking, to start smoking e-cigarettes. Cigarette smoking is also very expensive, whereas e-cigarettes require quite a heavy initial investment at first, around $100 for the start up kit, they pay for themselves in the long run and end up saving you money over…

In discussions of smoking electronic-cigarettes, or e-cigs, in designated smoking areas, one controversial issue has been that the vapor coming from the e-cigs does not cause damage to a person’s health. On the other hand, the vapor coming from the e-cigs contends quite an overwhelming amount of damage to a person’s health. Others even maintain that smoking e-cigs help people with a smoking problem stop smoking. My own view is that, although e-cigs help people stop smoking, they have been proven to cause the same amount of damage as a tobacco cigarette would; therefore people with e-cigs should stick to smoking in smoking designated areas.…
