EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The widespread use of mobile phones, the various information access means that it provided to its users, and the vast presence and significant impact of mobile phone on users’ daily life make mobile phones important devices to study. The research objectives we using is to know the main purpose evaluation to purchase smartphone among with students and important criterion when purchase smartphone. The research methodology is instrument and sampling. Instrument we measured on a likerts scale and the draft version of the survey was pre-tested using 15 (fifteen) undergraduates to check possible problems with statement clarity and respondent understanding as well as ability to complete the survey instrument. The sampling are consisted of under graduated students who were attending classes in University of Tenaga Nasional located on the south-east Pahang under then district of Rompin, Pahang. The student of Degree Program population was purposively chosen for the survey study because they represent an enthusiastic user group of smartphones. The whole population of undergraduates at the university’s campus is estimated at 3000 students. The questionnaires were disseminated to a non-probability sample of 250 full time students. We research to finding the important criterion before purchasing smartphone among the students UNITEN.The conclusion a to collected data were analyzed using SPSS.The principal components factor analysis resulted in seven independent dimensions: (1) innovative features, (2) image, (3) price, (4) personal recommendation, (5) durability and portable aspects, (6) media influence, and (7) post-sales service. All seven factors are important criterion for students before purchase the smartphone.
