First of all, the rules of the attendance policy are strict. The attendance policy does not distinguish between excused or unexcused absences. I do not think that having an unexcused absence is the same as an excused absence. I think that there should be a difference between an excused absence and an unexcused absence. Secondly, the policy is placed to help college students be more responsible. But, I feel like having a attendance policy is not teaching student to be responsible but it is placed there to act like a parent. In high school, some parents would wake their children up to go to school and it was mandatory but, the attendance policy is acting like the parents by forcing them to go to class. College students should learn responsibility by facing the consequences for not going to class. In the professional world, the employers are not going to have an attendance sheet going around to see if their employees are in. the employees have to take responsibility and show up and face the punishment if they do not show up for work. They back talk teachers, skip class, and get up and leave class. Some students don’t care about school and their grades, most of them don’t even do their homework and half the time they fail test/quizes. But they may be getting home later so they won’t have time to study or do homework, but if they study they’ll be going to bed late so in the morning they may be feeling tired and worn out.…
