In this study used for this essay, the administrators not only sought to study the performance of the individual in and out of the group but they also sought to compare the actual performance of each individual and also how they scored individually before during and after testing phases. This was to show how students whom normally did well changed in the group. Average and low performance students were monitored as well. The variation used in this study was the reward of bonus points in accordance with performance. The study found that high standard students did better when the reward held its basis in personal improvement, and fared worse when the bonus was for raising group average. The proverbial pendulum swung the other way for low performing students. When their bonus points were dependent on higher personal achievement or grade, most did not perform well. The first part of self assessing me was pretty important because it was a sum of my whole lifestyle in one. Giving me an overall look on what I should change or if I should even change any of my habits. My smoking score was a perfect 10, which was not surprising at all to me. My alcohol/drug score for this was seven points because I do drink. The score for my eating and exercising habits were perfect because I do a good job when it comes to eating right and working out on a daily. Personal responsibility requires one to finally accept the truth that you are responsible for your own actions. Most of the time when mistakes are made, the initial reaction is to point a finger or find an excuse rather than accept involvement. Personal responsibility is the key to College success because at times, most students find themselves falling short of what lies in between these two. Some examples of are turning in homework assignments at the last minute, running late for class, and cramming for a test. As noted by Sullivan (2011), “Personal change also requires the right timing. There are many reasons why students are assessed and this first section summarises some of the key benefits to students, institutions and teachers as suggested by Race et al (2005). In order to gain qualifications or complete a course, students will be required to prove their competence, knowledge or exposition of a skill, usually through the use of assessments to demonstrate that learning has taken place. Students may find assessment useful as it provides information regarding their progress, or identify areas for further development. Comparisons can be made against other students and this can help to give students a sense of how they are getting on compared to their peers. Although assessment may be motivating to some students who are progressing well it may also be demoralising for students who are struggling, or become a block to learning for others who are anxious about the assessment process. Therefore it is important that assessment is appropriate to the course and level of student and differs according to the psychomotor, cognitive and affective learning domains and this will be discussed in detail later in this essay (Race et al 2005).…
I had a hard time gathering my sources together as there is so much information to process and to look through. I think I spent all day to trying to find the right sources for my essay. At the end I can say that I am more familiar with the University Library. It has so many different features to help you locate the correct source. Eventually I came to rely on these three sources that I feel will have an impact on my Personal Responsibility Essay. The first article I chose was the worth of self-accountability. In this article I believe that my essay will benefit from this because it describes the process of being accountable for one’s actions and how to deal with certain situations that might arise whether in school or your personal life. It gives a better understanding on how to view yourself and what can make you better. The second article that I choose was personal growth and how to obtain it. This article explores that self-image in relation to being able to be more effective at what we want to achieve. You not only have do self-reflection but also apply it in your life. Not only do you need to change your self -image to be successful but you also need to be able to change your behavior or this will not work. The last article that I choose was taking personal responsibility. This article stresses the fact that you are where you are because of who you are. Everything that exists in your life exists because of you, because of your behavior. The acceptance of personal responsibility is what separates the adult from the child. Responsibility goes hand in hand with success in every area of your life. It also brings out the fact that accepting responsibility you are being accountable for yourself and not blaming others or making excuses for your actions.
