Skating Happy Valley Analysis
Skating Happy Valley, OR

From giant, steep, and scenic hills to going fast down any steep slope within the valley. The sensations from going fast down a hill with only you and your board is an indescribable feeling. To some it may seem as little as a hobby or something to do to pass the time. Yet to me it’s a feeling like no other. As intense as it seems, 35mph+ is relaxing more so than anyone but a skater could fully understand. The feeling of sliding on my board, the feeling of gliding, and for that very moment, feeling absolutely weightless. Yet the greatest part of all is where longboarding can take you. Seeing lush, green, blooming nature surround a road in

As some see only the main objective in a hobby or activity, not all focus on what comes with with they have interest in. My best times and memories have and still do come from skating within my home town and experiencing all the different seasons that I get to enjoy and be apart of for as long as I skate here. First, when you begin your ride it starts with a small inertia jerk, you can feel the exhilaration as you creep up the slope of the first hill at a constant speed. Whenever you get to the peak you can see an amazing view, and since you have the highest potential energy you get only a few seconds before you are going downhill at 100 miles per hour. Before long, as you come towards the bottom there are three loops, each 35 feet…

“Click, click, click” I stand up after buckling my snowboard bindings and glance out across the horizon. Quickly I hop along to gain speed to catch up to my family.…

For some reason I chose this picture because it represents the summers I’ve spent there and the town I have had the privilege to grow up in. The most memorable thing that happened to me was when I first discovered what I’m really good at. I came across inspiring Youtube videos of old classic Roller Derby and recent ones that were published only a year ago, I knew from the moment I laid eyes on those quads that I had to try it. In less than two weeks I was a complete natural at skating, I was all about skates. I practiced all the derby stances, exercises, techniques you name it I am absolutely in love with this sport. but as much as I fantasized about doing it I never thought that I’d actually get the chance to be part of their world and have training by the Derby Dames Juniors Freshmeat Association crew, which are ranked the top thirty-one in the united states!…

I chose ice skating as creativity for one of the nine learning experiences. Not only is ice skating a fun activity but it also helps with physical development of the child. Ice skating increases lower body strength by working the muscles in the legs. When learning how to ice skate you are actually teaching how to balance yourself. In this day age, children aren’t as physically active as before in previous generations and by doing an ice skating activity it could lead a child to a lifelong sport.…

It was the day of the party for my 8th birthday. I was outside playing basketball waiting impatiently for people to arrive. As they began to arrive a marveled at all the gifts being brought into the house. The party went slowly by as I waited to open my gifts. When the time finally came to open gifts I remember being disappointed in most of them. I had one gift left to open and judging by the size of it I didn’t think it would be anything good. I opened it up and saw a skateboard. I thanked my grandparents politely for giving me the gift and set it off to the side so I could enjoy the rest of the party. The next day I went outside to try it out so the gift wouldn’t be completely wasted and to my surprise I loved riding it. There was such a good feeling of freedom and individualality knowing that in the sport of skating I didn’t have to do what others did, I didn’t have to depend on others, and didn’t have a coach telling how to do things, it was all just me.…

What is snowboarding to me? "I would not even call snowboarding a sport. It is a way of life. It is a chance to shut your brain off and live in the moment." Travis Rice could not have said it any better. Snowboarding has become a part of who I am and has had many influences on my life. The sport of snowboarding has taught me very valuable skill such as: persistence, hard work, courage and dedication. I was taught to be persistent when learning new tricks. From personal experience, when learning a new trick I experienced many failures and countless tries but snowboarding taught me to stick with it because the taste of victory and achievement is incomparable. The sport also taught me about the value of courage and being able to take risks. From watching other people accel, I learned that I need to really push myself if I want to be at the top of the charts. Almost every time that I ride I scare the living daylights out of myself. This is not a bad thing though because it teaches me to push my comfort zone and reap the rewards. Snowboarding also taught me dedication because if you love something enough and would like to be good at it then you need to be dedicated. All the time that I spend thinking about and actually riding my snowboard show my extreme dedication and it really does pay off. Snowboarding to me is a way that I live my…
