Skateboarding Accomplishment
An accomplishment that has helped me understand myself better was learning how to ride and do tricks on a skateboard, it taught me how to believe in myself, how to keep trying without giving up and it also taught me that pain is only temporary. Learning how to ride my skateboard taught me many essential life lessons by falling and failing each and every single time and still getting back up to continue trying. Although it may seem like an easy task, it was not as simple for me. All of the times my skin bled and my bones hit the ground taught me how to keep pushing myself to reach my goal.

When one of my friends introduced me into skateboarding I thought to myself "It's too hard." These thoughts were the type of obstacles that prevented me

This achievement taught me how to keep trying without giving up, once my skills improved at riding my skateboard, I kept trying new things more often. Pushing myself to become a better skateboarder. Another thing that kept me motivated was the skill behind it. Not many people know how to ride and do tricks on a skateboard, therefore I went after a challenge that would superior myself compared to others in the skateboarding sense at least.

Another important value that skateboarding taught me about myself was the fact that pain is only temporary and that after the pain the rewards start coming in.

After hundreds of attempts that felt like thousands, awaiting on improving was my only hope. Weeks later, my skills had improved and my hard work was starting to pay off.

My hard work taught me a very important lesson, to believe in myself, to keep trying and that pain is temporary. Accomplishing this helps me to this day with any type of problem that I come across. After many different attempts of failure, I was able to finally ride a skateboard. This convinced me that if you work hard enough you will achieve whatever you want. This new skill I obtained helped me understand myself by showing my true confidence and belief I have in

Knowing the main parts of a skateboard will come in handy. When something goes wrong you can easily identify what needs fixed or replaced. You can often do repairs on your own if you understand the different parts and how they function. Having this knowledge also is helpful when you are trying to improve your skills and make your board fit your style. Not to mention that you can add your own flair to your board through choosing custom decks and wheels since you now know what they are and where they are located on the board. As you can see, being knowledgeable about your board is something that will be a great benefit to you for many…

Life is comprised of a series of learning profound learning experiences. On that stands out occurred last year in seventh grade. Two friends and I decided we wanted to try something new, to learn how to play basketball! We made that decision mainly because we wanted to do an activity together for the winter term, and seventh graders didn't have the option of doing the winter school play. We were very hesitant; only one of us had any experience playing basketball, and we didn't think it would be very fun to run up and down a court trying to get a ball in a hoop. Still we kept an open mind and began to learn how to play.…

Skateboarding is a sport that is uniquely different from all others. It doesn’t require a team competing for a common goal. There isn’t a legitimate system that judges how talented a skateboarder is. There is no league regulating how skateboarding should be done. Skateboarding is an individualistic sport that provides infinite potential for progression. There is no limit on the amount of tricks that can be learned or landed. With stair sets, handrails, ledges, and street obstacles everywhere, the world becomes a skateboarder’s playground. Unfortunately, there is a wide misperception about skateboarding that many people develop.…

Everyone has had something that has influenced their life and shaped them into the person that they are today. Whether it is a relative, tragic accident, or a sport, it causes you to act and think the way you do. For me, skateboarding changes the way I look at everything. Ever since I was six years old and I unwrapped my first skateboard form under the Christmas tree, I have never looked at anything the same. It all started when I stepped from my living room into the garage, which I used to jump onto the board. From that point, I looked at everything and analyzed it for a way to skate on it. Where most people see a dirty rust pipe or rail, skaters see a new spot to film some tricks. I have met some of the most influential and creative people…

One such instance in my life was when I was preparing to try out for the high school basketball team upon entering my freshman year. I was never able to make it past tryouts in my previous years due to the fact that I was overweight, out of shape, unhealthy, and terrible at basketball. So I decided that the summer before I began high school and started tryouts that I was going to get in the best possible shape I could that summer and concentrate only on improving my basketball skills and fundamentals. I was still extremely untalented and unknowledgeable of the basics of basketball and fitness so I enlisted the help of my older brother a high school track star and his best friend a high school basketball star.…

Did you know that skateboarding came from surfing?
