Situational Analysis
Purpose: What I hope to accomplish with this report is to both inform and persuade the owner of our family business (my father). I want to inform him on our costs for running the business from home and data on a possible location where he wants to open a second business similar to the one we have now. In the report I try to persuade him to not take the chance of opening anther business by comparing the data that I found through research. I gave him a recommendation of staying where we are now, and instead of opening something new, try to improve and expand on the company he has right now.

Audience: My father will be the one reading this letter. He is an immigrant from a country called Macedonia. He can write and speak in English but it is nowhere near fluent. Although he is not a fluent English speaker, he definitely knows how to run a business. He has been in the statue business for 13 years and also deals with real estate. Most of the information I give in the report, he is aware of but I’m sure he will be surprised by seeing the actual numbers and percentages. This will help him make the decision based on real facts.

Medium: The two mediums I chose in my report are written and visual. The written part helped me plan and control my message while the visuals were there to help him get a better understanding and to be less intimidating than a long written letter.
