Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is a romance of a knight’s adventure/quest as an ordinary person would see it as. An adventure where Sir Gawain goes through many test to get to the Green Knight. Though the romance may just seem like an ordinary quest getting fulfilled, there are many things going on than what is shown in black and white. A thorough analysis of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight shows the importance of the meals in the romantic novel, as it displayed bonds of rivalry, bonds between the characters, and conflicts that may arise when a meal is rudely interrupted.     There are some similarities of the two incerpts, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and The Holy Grail. I believe that both come to be Romances. In the first story Sir Gawain was sent on a dangerous quest that of which was to seek the Green Chapel of the Green Knight to hold true to his oath that he would receive what he done to him one year and one day later. He was tested of his honor and courage when he gave his word to the lord Bercilak to give him all he won in the castle at the end of the day and also he proved true to that by not having an affair with his wife. By that test it determined whether or not he got his head chopped off. In the end Sir Gawain returned home. The Holy Grail was a story on the line of being a romance, but by the way I interpreted the story I found it to be one. In that story Sir Galahad had a dangerous quest of riding to the King Mordrayns, then by reburying a person who had lain burning for a long time, and then by going to Corbenic to the Castle of the Maimed King, Pellam. His test of honor or courage was of his loyalty to Jesu when he did what He wanted and said he's even die for him. He never returned home physically, but I believe he returned to his home in heaven when he died making The Holy Grail to be a romance in that instance.…

    The theme of Sir Gawain and The Green Knight is Chivalry. This was written in dialect and said to be written by a monk, but author remains unknown. In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, The Green Knight was a creation by Arthur’s half-sister, Morgan le Fay, the ruler of mysterious Avalon, to embarrass the knights of his court. The Green Knight approaches the court offering beheading games and the winnings game while holding a holly-bundle and an axe in his hands. The holly-bundle symbolizes peace. Sir Gawain speaks up saying that he’s the weakest and should participate because he’d be the least loss to King Arthur’s (governor of Camelot) court. This all takes place around New Year’s Day and they call it Christmas-tide. A description of the Green Knight: All green except for his eyes. They were red. Sir Gawain was supposed to leave on November 1st, All Saints Day. This is a special day for praying to the saints. This day would have been better for Sir Gawain to leave, but he leaves on the 2nd, named All Souls Day. All Souls Day are prayers for deceased held in a place to speed to heaven. Sir Gawain is undergoing a test to prove he’s a Chivalric knight. The castle he visits represents heaven on earth and the guy Porter represents Peter. Gawain was given beautiful clothes as well as food to eat. He comes to the realization that he made a bargain and he has to deal with it. The woman he spoke to at the castle told him if he valued his life he would wear a sash, he was also told it would save his life. Being a king, Arthur cannot express fear because he is the protector of the society.
