Loop the yarn to be worked over the index finger of your left hand. The balance of that yarn should extend from the same hand. Lightly held in control between the ring and little finger.
2. Slip stitch – insert the hook through the 2 upper strands of the stitch to be worked. Place the yarn through over the hook, and then draw both yarn and the hook through the last loop in the hook.
3. Single Crochet – insert the hook through the 2 upper stands of the stitch to be worked, place the yarn over again and draw it through the remaining hook. When working the first row of the single crochet on a foundation chain, start your first stitch in the 2nd chain from the hook and always chain 1 to turn when the first stitch on the next row is to be a single crochet.
4. Half Double Crochet- place the yarn over the hook then insert the hook through the 2 upper strands of the stitch to be worked. Draw the yarn through the stitch, yarn the remaining 2 loops in the hook. When working the 1st stitch in the 3rd chain from the hook and always chain 2 to turn half doubled crochet.
