He even controls the people around Truman. He controls what they say, where to go, and how they act around Truman, because they are paid actors and are told what to do by the directors. But In The Giver, everyone in the community is the real deal. No one there is a paid actor with a someone feeding them lines. Everything in the community is real. Also in The Giver, no one lies. You don't speak their feelings and tell dreams , you have to take a pill to stop the feelings for people of the opposite sex, you you even have to apply for children and marriage. In The Truman Show, the life that Truman had was a little more realistic. People lied, they sometimes spoke feeling and dreams, they were allowed to like who or what pleases them, and they picked their own jobs. Which shows that the truman show is more like a actors or like a celebrity in a way because his like is full of people feeding lines to people. Like a celebrity…

The novel, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is about a teenage girl, Katniss, having to live in a poor world where she participates in a yearly event called ‘The Hunger Games’. The Giver by Lois Lowry is about a teenage boy having to see the flaws of a world which are sameness. The Hunger Games is more dystopian than The Giver but both stories share some similarities. The Hunger Games and The Giver both characters are positively popular or famous to the community but the difference is that the society in The Hunger Games is one of poverty compared to Jonas’ society and that the government in The Hunger Games has much more absolute control over the society. Therefore these points show that The Hunger Games is more dystopian than The Giver…

The novel The Giver by Lois Lowry and the movie The Giver directed by Philip Noyce are based on a perfectly enclosed nirvana, taking place in a futuristic setting where choices are not yours. It is also thought as a Utopia, an endless party and everlasting harmony. However paradise, in this case, is not perfect, but who knows better? One similarity between the book and the movie is the main characters, Jonas, who was able to go to Elsewhere with his youthful companion, Gabriel.…

You’re eleven years old. All of the pain, fear, war, and hatred of the world has been eliminated from society. Everyone looks and acts the same, and your profession is chosen for you based on your abilities; at age twelve. The Giver, written by Lois Lowry, is a fascinating story about a different type of society and learning the secrets behind it. The movie of the same name directed by Phillip Noyce, is creative, but showed some very disappointing changes from the book. All in all, the book is far more preferable because the plot is far more exciting, the characters are developed well, and the creativeness is more descriptive than that of the movie.…

One thing in particular that the book does much better is making use of complex metaphors and themes, such as: the river for life, and oneness with nature, that string themselves together as you turn each page of the book, while in the movie the metaphors and symbolism are represented in a much different way through picture. In the book, both themes regarding the river are very vivid and clear, as they use strong imagery of nature to draw pictures in the minds of the readers. In the movie both themes are represented and referred to much less because of the lack of narration.…

The Giver’s conflict reminds me constantly of the novel Fahrenheit 451. In both novels, the protagonist encounters a conflict of which they have to face their community, man versus society. some of them. One similarity about "Giver" was both in the movie and book Jonas had learned about love and he liked it. The Giver movie and the Giver novel were very different. This is most likely because the Giver book was released in 1993 and the movie was made in 2014. First, the movie depicts the characters to look like they are eighteen or nineteen, in the book they are only twelve. Also, in the movie Jonas begins to see beyond like in the book, except he sees yellow, unlike in the book where he sees red. In addition to that, a more important difference would be that in the move Ashers´ job is drone pilot and he plays a much bigger role. In the novel, he is the director of recreation and he doesn't do anything important. Finally, in the movie, Fiona almost gets released because she helped Jonas leave. In the novel, Jonas does not receive help from Fiona…
