Similarities Between Lincoln And Julius Caesar

Abraham Lincoln and Julius Caesar were two great leaders in history. They became very powerful throughout their political reign. Although very different men, they were similar in many ways and certainly linked together upon their death. Julius Caesar was born in Rome on July 13, 100 B.C. Being the leaders of the Roman Republic, Caesar form hung armies and conquered many new lands. He became extremely powerful and formed the Roman Empire. His Senators were worried that he had gained too much power and became frightened of him. They began to plot ways to kill him (History.com) Abraham Lincoln, known as “Honest Abe”, was our sixteenth president. He was born in Hodgenville, Kentucky on February 12, 1809. Lincoln was key in the Reconstruction of America, which began the Civil War. Lincoln brought the republican party into a strong national organization (Whitehous.gov).
Caesar’s gain of power caused worry they he had become too powerful and the Senators plotted for Brutus to kill him. Caesar was stabbed to death in the capital of Rome which inspired the plot against Lincoln. John Wilkes Booth was an admirer of the works of Shakespeare, the writer who wrote about Julius Caesar. Booth had acted in a few plays written by Shakespeare which inspired him to plot the assassination of Lincoln. He shot President Lincoln in the back of the head while the President and First Lady attended a play. This assassination will directly link Julius Caesar and Abraham Lincoln
