Science fiction books and stores are often written with a sense of reality, so it's not entirely impossible for things that happen in these stories to happen in the real world at some point. Science fiction stories like to commentate on our world. Some like to show what will happen in the future if something continues to happen, others like to show things that could be going on in the world now. The science fiction stories Fahrenheit 451 and Harrison Bergeron show the government wants to hide information from people, that the government wants to keep people in the dark and ignorant.
