Simbrah Research Paper
Why I Chose to Raise a Simbrah
By: Josh Rich

The reason I picked the Simbrah breed. First I was raised around cattle. Second my older brother was a chapter president and a Rice Belt district historian and also participated in the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo and participated in the 2008 calf scramble and succeeded. I’m finished with my first year in high school and just became my chapter sentinel and moving on to my sophomore year. Now, enough said about my life, let’s talk cattle! I have always raised American breed show cattle. My dad and my brother and I have raised Simbrah cattle ever since my brother caught in Houston 2008 … really, ever since my brother, we’ve just fell in love with this breed of cattle. So,

These are two other breeds that I also have much respect for. Now the Simbrah breed is no longer known as a cross breed but is now known as a pure breed.
And of course, another reason I chose this breed… the girls that raise Simbrah heifers are fun to be around, and others like Simbrahs because of their colors. The thing about Simbrah cattle is that they are Brahman influenced. This means they are high heat tolerance cattle, and are originally developed in the hot humid areas of the Gulf Coast. If you haven’t realized we live on the gulf coast. I live in Vidor Texas so I know what it’s all about humid and hot. The only bad thing about the Brahman influence is that they tend to be a bit hot headed or “high headed” if you will call it.
Now I’m going to tell you about the Simmental side of the breed. The Simmental gives the hair to them, which gives them a show advantage. Then the other benefit to the hair allows them to survive in vary cold temperatures. For example they can live in 115 degrees farinhight in summer time (which is the Brahman side) and then -25 degrees farinhight in the winter which is the Simmental side of the

He is also the star of the movie called “Blackfish.” SeaWorld made Tilikum out to be a killer, but he is actually a victim of their greed. He was captured in 1983 from the wild at the age of 2 from his mother in Iceland where he was kept in a tank for about a year. Afterwards, he was sent to a park called Sealand of the Pacific. There he spent most of his day in a tank where 2 female whales bullied him. “Don’t forget to set the pack down on their back gently, so you don’t spook your llama,” This was parting advice from a judge at one of the Alpaca Llama Show Association I attended in my youth. Growing up I raised and showed a variety of animals including dairy goats, silkie chickens, and ducks as well as llamas and alpacas.. For my county fair I raised chickens, ducks, and goats. These were year long projects; picking a couple of my best stock from each species and working with and grooming them for the show ring. I also showed my dairy goats in American Dairy Goat Association. I spent many hours in the summer training and preparing my animals for shows. I also have a dog and show her at the county fair in obedience, showmanship, and agility…

I personally can feel the situation; this piece demonstrates the real situation a bronco’s accurate reaction when encountering a rattlesnake. It does a good job in making the viewer literally hear the bronco neigh. The encounter is intense and the bronze work makes you worry about the cowboy possibly falling of the horse. I truly enjoyed interacting with this piece and making assumption on the unknown, such as what geographical location this occurred in, how exhausted the cowboy and bronco are, and weather or not the cowboy on bronco carry on with their travels without an injury. These open-ended questions make the viewer able to communicate personally with the piece. I believe this piece is truly remarkable when examining the horse. The horse has such great detail, anybody who sees the detail in the horse knows exactly when and how a horse halts and is startled. Hemington shows the bronco’s hind legs flexed strong with muscle tone and veins as the adrenaline in the horse is pumping throughout his massive body. The way the horse is sculpted really talks to the strength of a 1000-pound animal like a bronco. These animals could kill a man just by falling on them, which plays to the severity and intensifies the experience of the viewer. The cowboy has incredibly stiff legs, which makes me feel the sudden halt that made the cowboy flinch his entire body to avoid getting ejected off the horse. The details of the piece paint a very…

As a cub, Simba has two influential lions in his life Mufsa, his father, and Scar, his uncle. Mufsa is a great and very positive influence in Simba's life. Mufsa shows his severant leadership style in a conversation he has with Simba. Mufsa is trying to teach Simba about his future as king. By just teaching Simba, Mufsa is showing that he cares for the future of Pride Rock. Mufsa's lesson to Simba describes the "Circle of Life." Mufsa tells Simba that although lions hunt antelope, they also have to have respect for the animals, because eventually lions become food for antelope after death. This shows Mufsa's commitment to bettering the whole community and not just his own tribe of lions. But Simba also has much respect for his Uncle Scar. Unlike Mufsa Scar is a negative influence in Simba's life. Scar has very Machiavellian tendencies. He manipulates young Simba to go to an area not controlled by the lions, the hyenas home, which Scar hopes will kill Simba. Actions like this and several others are examples of Scar's extremely deviant behaviors. Scar goes as far as killing his brother, which leads to Simba's next stage of…
