Both of the prince's friends used them during the story. There was also Horatio who told Hamlet about his father’s ghost, who resembles Rafiki, who told Simba about his father’s ghost. Whether or not the story writers of The Lion King meant to make the film shockling similar to the play Hamlet, the resemblance is undeniable. Another example of the play Hamlet being used in modern times would be the famous Disney channel movie Twitches. Twitches is a story about two magical twins born into the royal family of the magical kingdom of Coventry.
Shortly after the twins are born a terrible force begins to destroy and kill everyone in the kingdom. The uncle to the twins are behind the whole ordeal and kills his brother who protects

Hamlet (prince of Denmark) can be greatly compared to Laertes (son of a noble), and Fortinbras (prince of Norway) in the play. They all are very similar but yet different at the same time. They all had love and respect for their fathers and felt the need to avenge their deaths, which all were brutally killed. All three believed that the murderers had dishonoured their fathers as well as themselves. They all reacted and took different approaches in attempt to restore honour in their families.…

This film is filled with multiple hidden messages and acts which reflect the life and journey of Jesus Christ. It is quite interesting to watch and think deeply about the religious connotations of the film, which may be difficult for one to identify if they do not pay close enough attention. The film depicts Simba as a Christ figure, as it applies various Christ images to him. The lion King expresses Simba as a scapegoat, depicts him having followers and suffering, it shows Simba connecting to his father through prayer, experiencing conflict with authority and as an adventure hero. Through The Lion King Simba is presented as a heroic Christ figure that embodies many human attributes as he learns, and grows throughout his life. Simba’s role as Christ is used to justify the films use of violence under the conditions of overthrowing Scar and restoring Pride…

In this film, Allers and Minkoff have used many techniques to highlight Simba’s Coming of Age. One of these techniques is humour. Humour plays a mayor part in this film by conveying innocence, personality and maturity of the characters as well as making it entertaining. At the beginning of the film, Simba is an innocent, care-free lion cub and his adventures and assumptions are funny because they are naïve and adorable. Yet as the film goes on and Simba is forced to grow up, he becomes more serious and is more intelligent-meaning he amuses us with his witty remarks rather than his innocent ideas. Another major technique used in the film is the use of music/songs. The music/songs are symbolic of the transition that Simba goes through and the challenges he undertakes. They provide insight to the storyline in the film (e.g. ‘Be Prepared’ tells the viewer that scar intends to kill Simba and Mufasa) and can manipulate the emotions of the audience (eg. ‘Just Cant Wait to Be King’ puts the audience in a bubbly, energetic mood). The music and songs help illustrate Coming of Age as each song lays out the choices Simba must make in order to find his place in ‘the great circle of life’.…

Directors Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff do an excellent job, in my opinion, presenting the story of a lion cub's journey to adulthood and acceptance of his royal destiny. The new Disney story opens with a spectacular celebration in honor of Simba (voice of Jonathon Taylor Thomas as a child and Matthew Broderick as an adult), the newborn prince, son of the powerful king Mufasa (the voice of James Earl Jones) (IMDb). The cub's happy childhood turns tragic when his evil uncle, Scar (voice of Jeremy Irons), murders Mufasa then convinces Simba that he was at fault for his father’s death. This immediately drives Simba away from the kingdom. In exile, the young lion befriends the comical pair of Pumbaa (voice of Ernie Sabella) the warthog and Timon (voice of Nathan Lane) the meerkat and lives a carefree jungle life. As he approaches adulthood, he is visited by the spirit of his father, who instructs him to defeat Scar and reclaim his rightful throne (Howe).…
