Shrek: A Fictional Narrative
"Come on, Shrek! Just let me go to the Duloc already!"

"No!"

You're at Shrek's swamp and you wanted to visit Farquaad but Shrek is standing in front of the door and won't let you out.
He crossed his arms and glared at you.

"I think you spend too much time with him. What's so great about him anyway?!"

"He's an important friend for me!"

"And what am I?! Chopped liver?! Cheese spread?! Am I nothing to you?! I'M your best friend. not Farquaad! He don't deserve your attention!"

You were speechless. In the beginning he doesn't seem to care that you visit Farquaad. But after a short while he's acting more edgy and irritated. Like he's... It can't be, right?

"Shrek?" You tilted your head. "Are you...jealous or something?" Shrek blushed and hissed: "Yeah, right! I'm

It's not fair! You should hang out with him not with Farquaad! Yes, Shrek's jealous. Very jealous. He just can't accept your friendship with Farquaad.
Shrek begins to feel lonely. He really needs you. You are his happiness. But as long you're with Farquaad... He seriously don't want to imagine what you two are doing together.

"Not with me!", thought Bonnie and ran to Duloc. He quickly got to the castle and screamed: "Farquaad!!! HANDS OFF OF MY GIRLFRIEND!!!"
You and Farquaad stared at him in astonishment. Shrek stared back, completely frozen in place. You two are just playing..."Go Fish"?

Farquaad looked at you then at Shrek and raised a hand. "Whoa, ogre! Before you make wrong conclusions... We only play cards! That's all!" He grinned widely.

"More importantly: Did you just called (Y/N) your "girlfriend"~?" Shrek's head heats up in embarrassment. "I-I mean... I just...well..." You've heard enough. You hugged Shrek and whispered: "Do you really see me as your girlfriend? If so then I have something to tell you... I love you..."

Shrek was a little shocked but he slowly wrapped his arms around you and kissed your forehead. "Yes, it's true... I...I love you

Two main aspects of this scene to focus on is the interaction between Lord Farquaad and Shrek and also the use of Princess Fiona as an object of trade for Shrek’s reward. Traditional ranking of nobles and commoners are rooted within the Middle Ages, and although Shrek acts rather brutish and unpolished in Lord Farquaad’s presence, there is still an act of submission as depicted by Shrek’s delivery of Fiona. It was typical of knights in the middle ages to battle against one another or perform favors and acts of bravery in order to gain favor in the eyes of a King. Lord Farquaad’s use of Shrek as a way of obtaining Princess Fiona would then give Shrek an opportunity to gain favor in Lord Farquaad’s eyes so that his request of gaining back full ownership of his swamp would be granted. Due to the treacherous nature of retrieving Fiona, this would constitute as one of many acts of valor that many knights would partake in at the time.…
