Should the united states have annexed the Philippines?

In the spring and summer of 1898 the United States went to war with Spanish. On that war the Cuba and the overseas of the Philippines were conjured by the United States. The America was victorious on that war and became the major world’s powerful country. But, what should America do with the newly conjured islands, Cuba and Philippines. Does those islands become the semi-independent or annex to the United States.

The United States had suddenly become the most powerful country after the Spanish and American war. America became strongest because of the Cuba and the Philippines conjured. The Philippines Island was became a matter later, should the United States have annexed the Philippines and literate them all. For example, Philippines general Emilio Aguinaldo expected United States would literate them. So, general marched with US troops. The US should have annexed the Philippines the United States was able to expand more influence and it's economy by making the land theirs. It also eventually allowed the Filipinos to be capable of self-rule and make a democratic nation of its own. The Philippines have become their own people because we annexed it.

Emilio Aguinaldo was felt betrayed by the United States. America shouldn`t annex the Philippines. Because first changing the Culture of Philippines would be difficult. An example, literate would be harder for the people in the Philippians to learn and to assimilate to US culture. There can also be a larger possibility of more terrorist coming to the United States and having another attack on us. Also, U.S. has also social Darwinism so it would be very difficult for the United States to get along with the Philippines. The Last Reason why I think that we should not annex the Philippines is because if we annex them we would also have army but, does we could trust them from that country.
