Should The Military Need To Recruit Recruitment?
Throughout the case study, it appears abundantly clear that the military needs to recruit more soldiers in its desperate time of war. To alleviate this pressure, they decide to implement a quota system which requires all recruiters to find two new recruits each month. However, the pressures of war do not justify the implementation of a quota system. Additional pressure for recruiters to meet demanding quotas will likely force them to defy procedures and employ unethical methods when attempting to recruit. Many recruiters may feel pressured to lie, falsify reports, or recruit underqualified members just to ensure the quota is continually met. Not only can this weigh on a conscience, but it could endanger lives. Both new and returning members of the military could be in danger due to the underqualified recruits. These policies are implemented for safety precautions, and by allowing recruits to bypass the standards, many safety precautions are misplaced. As an example, many must be refused military entrance because of illness, specifically diabetes. If a diabetic required insulin during the war, his life would be endangered by making him an easier target and he …show more content…
This includes not implementing strict and demanding quotas. The quotas, as stated above, will force recruiters to lie, falsify reports, and accept unqualified applicants. The military should also ensure that consequences for these actions clearly known and faithfully carried out to deter recruiters from performing these actions. In stressful times, very little should change regarding motivating employees. Any changes in motivating, positive or negative, could result in unethical techniques.
