Should Teachers Be Allowed To Touch Students Case Study
The debate on November 27th was about whether teachers should be allowed to touch students or not. This was debated by Kaitlyn on the affirmative side and Clay and Abdi on the negative side. Kaitlyn's opening statement Started by pointing out that the debate is not about inappropriate touching of students its just about whether or not simple everyday touching is acceptable. Then she referred to an article written by neurologist David J. Linden that states that “touch is a way of putting people into a calmer mental state” and she insinuated that, that will help them to trust you as the teacher. Kait also spoke about an article that encourages side hugs or pats on the shoulder rather than full engagement of students which can lead to questions …show more content…
He also reminded us that any kind of touching even if its not inappropriate can be turned against you as a teacher. Next Clay spoke for the negative side and spoke about how even an innocent hug can be misconstrued by the student as sign that you like them in a deeper way and male teacher must be extra carrefulcarreful when hugging studetns to ensure that its intention is not misunderstood. He said to never ok to take a students number and he referred to an article by Kelsey Briggs haw that states that there was 893 cases of sexual misconducts between 2011-2016 some which have resulted in conviction but also many that didn't so the simple touch of student have lead many teachers to false allegations so touch h should not be allowed because will protect teachers from false elligation and students from sexual …show more content…
She used strong points and backed them up with references so they seemed creditable and reliable. The only issue I had with Kaitlyn's debates was the statement about teachers who avoiding physical contact are often convicted of child abuse later in life seemed like a made up fact and made me question the truthfulness of her other statements and the credibility of her other references Abdi and Clay had a hard point to prove and brought up some good points for the negative side that I hadn't considered. I questioned the reliability of their statements but Clay eventually mentioned a fact by Kelsey Briggshaw that added a little credibility to his earlier statements Clay and Abdi provided no reference sheet which made it hard to confirm but the way it was presented gave me a feeling like it was true whereas Kaitlyn's statement felt so untrue that even though there was references I still questioned her facts. Sometimes telling a lie in a believable manner is more lucrative than telling a truth that is so bold that it feels like a lie and makes me question where your facts are coming

Teachers never left the transmitiosn station in front of the room. It was weird to even see that she had legs. She checked over Kyles device saying that there was nothing wrong. School misbehavior had been eradicated with the passing of the Admendment 252, the loss of color based on delinquency, but we knew Kyle could get away with anything since the Honor Loyalists were seemingly untouchable. He wanted to disrupt the assements a teacher falling on a student and putting him at an emotional disadvantage would eradicate the validity of the GOV’s most prescious…

The ethical issue is the trespassing of the children’s space and giving them a hug. Standard 10.02 and 10.03 is to make sure the psychologist is clarifying the rules and regulations of everyone involved in the group sessions. Regulations of keeping the confidentiality of what is said stays within the group only and not talk about in class. In this scenario it is the touching and hugging for personal recollection for greetings or ending the sessions. This could have been avoided if the hug did not become a personal one-on-one greeting. The welcoming to the class or the farewell to the class should strictly be giving them information and answering any questions the participants need to know. The teacher should avoid making physical contact with students as this would be deemed inappropriate & would make students feel uncomfortable. Exceptions to this rule would be if you were to teach something where physical contact is necessary to carry out the teaching. For example teaching first aid or massage where you have to show students how to perform tasks on the body. Lecturer’s should also keep a suitable physical distance from students & respect their personal space. Being too close to someone can cause them discomfort or anxiety.…

It was obvious that Ms. Brown had created a plan for this lesson by observing the progression of the skills that were being taught and that they were presented in a logical order that aided student comprehension. Both the students and the teacher were familiar with the skills and the delivery. She also posts lesson plans online. Objectives and expectations of the lesson were communicated to the students on a special place on the board, at the front of the class with essential questions and " I can" statements. Ms. Brown was able to gain the students' attention for the lesson with a hook type activity. It was an engaging question for the student to answer that was related to the topic. Students worked independently, in pairs and in groups and read a selection either by themselves or with another student. The material was then presented in a graphic organizer by the teacher with illustrations and relevant examples provided by the students. They also read the selection (either our loud to a partner or to themselves) and then the material was displayed in the form of a graphic organizer for the visual learners. Ms. Brown used PowerPoint to present the material.…

An essential part of a boy’s education is learning to trust. Trust shows that you have confidence in your superiors, or in this case, the teachers. An ideal would also have this trust for his students. Gunn described his ideal teacher as someone who would work hard to gain trust from his students or boys and was trustworthy. “To be trustworthy means to be able to be relied on as honest or truthful.” If a teacher is trustworthy, the student feels like it is easier to approach the teacher if any issue occurs. Also the student will feel more comfortable talking in class if they know the teacher is trustworthy.…
