English Essay Grade 9P

39-year-old Tendulkar urged to carry on
Sapa – AFPI 24 April, 2012 / 9.35am

A few days ago an article mentioned that some people want Sachin Tendulkar to carry on in terms or his cricket career. Do you agree or disagree about the fact that he is too old and should retire or should he carry on with being Captain? To be biased or not I guess there are many opinions in this case!

I would tend to agree that Sachin Tendulkar should pursue his career in cricket because I personally feel that, yes he is nearing his forties which is quiet a milestone for a cricket player, he is and has so much more of his strengths to offer and can still play the game to perfection. After all, he is still the Captain of the Indian Cricket Team and has led them with great dignity and professionalism in terms of their cricket career.
His wisdom, experience and great leadership can lead the younger players of cricket and especially those who want to make it into the professional sector of the game. There is so much to learn from this great man.
I agree with all the comments made in the article and feel quite optimistic although some want him to retire; he has still made history at his age in terms of this great sport. After all, we all have to agree with the fact that he is the highest run-getter in both forms of the game! Looking at the facts we have can’t ignore the fact that he is still a fit, extremely passionate and dedicated cricket player who can easily keep up with the younger ones.
Many questions are asked about the fact that he is 39 years of age and still the Captain of the Indian Cricket team. Are we blinded by this fact?

We all do agree on one fact and that is that if he does retire it would be a tremendous loss for the Indian Cricket team. Despite the fact that many feel that he should retire, I still firmly believe that Sachin Tendulkar should remain the Captain of the sport he so

As impressive as Brady was in 2011, one question still remains: how long can he keep it up? Brady will be 35 years old at the start of the 2012 NFL season and one has to wonder when age will begin to catch up with the 13 year veteran. 35 certainly isn’t as old for a quarterback as it may be for a player that plays a position that requires more athleticism, and Brady has shown few signs of slowing down, but the window to win another championship for the Patriots with Brady at the helm is undoubtedly closing.…

For me, I do see tennis as a lifelong sport that I will always like to play. I have enjoyed playing tennis since the age of 11 when my father took me out to my neighborhood court and taught me to play. Ever since then I decided that tennis would be my sport of choice. Tennis is a sport that only requires one other person to play, it is fairly easy to play for fun, and tennis requires you to use your entire body and stay in shape. Those are my reasons for keeping tennis as a lifelong sport.…

My personal belief on this argument is I believe young athletes should try to play as many sports as they can. I was lucky enough to play many sports throughout my life. I played Soccer, Baseball, Football, Basketball. Each and every sport benefited me in some way; they all helped better my skills. Baseball helped my hand eye coordination which benefited me in every sport but really helped in soccer where I also played Goalkeeper as well as forward. Basketball helped me in communication, teamwork, and footwork which helped me in every sport. You don’t have to only play your first sport to better yourself at it; Other sports like I said could help you because every sport uses the same basic skills for the most part. Each sport taught me new skills and helped improve other skills, and they helped me excel in each sport. I did choose to only play soccer once I got in high school. I didn't even specialise in my position till high school as well. I played forward and Goalkeeper my whole life and i'm thankful that I did because it benefited me so much. I did finally choose to just be a Goalkeeper but I owe all my success in sports, to the sports I played…
