Should students be required to wear school uniforms in public schools? This is a big topic of discussion for school boards. People can fall anywhere on a scale from strongly agree to strongly disagree with the idea of school uniforms. The article Should Kids Wear School Uniforms written by Sherry Bowen opens up and shares he personal thoughts on the controversial problem. I personally believe that school uniforms shouldn’t be required in public schools. However, Bowen is effective at persuading school boards and parents that students should wear school uniforms because of her use of pathos, ethos, and logos.
Bowen is a mother of two young daughters and a school media specialist in Buford, Georgia. Throughout the article, Bowen tries to answer the question “do school uniforms help curb violence, foster a better learning environment or promote discipline in students?” People have many different thoughts about school uniforms and if they should be required or not. “Many schools have jumped on the bandwagon despite students’ expressed concerns about their freedom of speech” (Bowen).

Often, people will believe more about a topic if information comes from a creditable source. Bowen uses the quote that Bill Clinton announced to support schools in purchasing uniforms “School uniforms are one step that may help break the cycle of violence, truancy and disorder by helping young students understand what really counts is what kind of people they are.” As the president of the United States, you have a lot of power and people will believe what you say. When Clinton released this statement, it didn’t take much to get the approval to get uniforms in many school districts across the
