Should College Athletes Get Paid Essay
Why College Athletes Should Get Compensation Imagine spending hours and hours a week working as hard as you can at a very hard task and getting almost nothing in return. This is what college athletes go through when they voluntarily play for their school. More of their time is spent on their sport per week than on education. Some of the college sports require very hard mental and physical work that could possibly result in a future career. Also collegiate sport organizations have millions to even billions of dollars that could be spared for the players that help keep it going. This is why I think college athletes should receive compensation for their skills. It would help the players continue on in life if they don't proceed of career in being a professional athlete and they work too hard to not get paid. The first reason why I think college athletes should get compensation is that almost all of their time is spent for their sport. Studies show that college football players average more than 40 hours a week on their games, practices, and …show more content…
This is not always the case though. There are many college athletes who practice, train, and compete for a sport and do not get any scholarships for college. Even for the athletes that do get a full ride to college they do not get any extra money to spend on stuff that they want. They practice their sport more than they study their education and they deserve to be paid for all of their time spent training and playing games. My proposal is for the NCAA to pay each athlete around 100 dollars for each game that they participate in. It may sound like a lot of money, but it really isn’t considering only a few athletes play per game and there are not that many games per year. This is fair for all of the athletes because if you don’t play every game it will encourage you to train

The side I agree with is pros, which means yes college athletes should get paid. I think this because they should get the money the need. I say this because college athletes will have to do two things, And it may come to having to leave your sport activity early or quitting the job, And do you really want to do any of those? Also because they maybe have a family to take care of and they can't do it without money right? Maybe even have a family member that's hurt/ dieing/ or even dead. And you have to go to the funeral or go help them and see if they're doing ok.…

Student athletes already receive benefits for playing college sports including an education, housing, meals, transportation, and other essentials. Should college athletes be given legal payment for their contribution to the universities? Many colleges around the United States have given thought to paying the athletes that play at their schools, especially in Division 1 programs. Collegiate athletes believe they are the source of income for their school, and request to obtain a part of what they produce. Although lawmakers, and experts conclude that paying college athletes would remove the amateurism from the game, college athletes should be paid because they are making money for the college, they are dedicating countless hours of hard work, also they would stay in school longer.…

There have been ongoing arguments over the past decade of whether or not college athletes should be paid to play. Many argue that they do not have time to get real jobs because the requirements for the sport that they participate in are far too demanding. Others cite that these athletes are provided full scholarships to attend the schools at which they are playing the sport. However regardless of the argument, I still feel that college athletes should not be paid to play.…

Over the past decades, what has continued to be one of the most debatable issues in the world of sports is whether or not college football players should get paid. My honest opinion is football that players should receive a certain proportion of money because of the service that college athletes provide to the institution they attend. In addition, they should be rewarded in a reasonable manner after putting their bodies out on the line, bringing in a tremendous amount of money, it will help with the football athletes to begin creating a sense of financial awareness, and finally it will attract more talented athletes.…

College athletes deserve to be paid due to a number of reasons. To begin with, the athletes happen to be the ones responsible for the huge sums of revenue that universities receive from the college athletic competitions (Jonathan, p. 1). The rise in popularity of sports in the American society, coupled with its high profit margin for the colleges due to commercialization has led to creation of much revenue for the universities. It is however very unfortunate that the student-athletes responsible for this, end up without even a penny of the revenue that they helped bring forth. There have also been contracts worth billions of dollars being signed between the universities and various broadcasting stations but the colleges still end up not paying the students. This can be better described as capitalism due to its lop-sided nature where the student-athletes do their best to aid in revenue creation for their universities but get nothing out of it.…

How much time and effort are student-athletes actually getting credit for? Should college athletes be paid for playing? The coaches of most college sports teams are getting all the rewards while the players are doing all the work. Paying athletes could improve attitudes and create more motivation. There are three main arguments as to why college athletes should be paid to play sports: athletes will be more motivated for academic studies, schools earn massive amounts of money from athletic events, and athletes have more costs to cover.…

Cam Kirk Eng Daste kjnkjgjhgj “There are approximately 176,000” (NCAA) student athletes currently playing sports in college. If you ask people whether College athletes should be paid, most would say yes, but most people don’t realize the factors that go into that decision. With that being said college athletes should not be paid because they receive more benefits than other people on campus by receiving free things like education, clothing/accessories, and the cost for the staff and for transportation. Not only that, but they also have to pay the coaches and everyone who contributes to the program. Overall there are many things that have to go into making sure programs stay up and running.…
