Should Backpacks Be Allowed In School
Should backpacks be allowed in high school? Indeed, backpacks should be allowed in high school. High School is so post to help prepare us for the reality beyond the school walls. If students aren’t allowed to have backpacks then is it really helping us. Some schools say that we are hiding food and drinks in our bags; quite frankly, it’s going to happen either way. Backpacks or not students are going to eat during a class; most of the time if a teacher asks them to put the food away they do. Backpacks should be allowed in school.

There have been 74 school shootings in the United States since the Sandy Hook shooting. This number is extremely high and causes heartbreak to our country; students deserve to attend school with no fear. Security guards and rules are not enough. Targeted bookbag and locker searches should be allowed because it would lower the amount of deaths and injuries in schools, lowers the amount of drug use in schools, brings a positive look to schools, and communities. Believing that these searches or maybe even metal detectors will help with the danger in schools today. According to Kate R. I believe that high schools should have open lunches. Students should be able to leave the school grounds and go to a fast food restaurant, or, if they choose should at least be able to go outside and eat. Students need to have a small break from school during the day, even if they are outside, they still can take their minds off of school work for a while. Students need to have fresh air and adequate sunlight. Fresh air and sunlight is a proven fact to help students in their studies and it also helps the students concentrate more. I understand that the school staff would not like the fact that the students would be able to leave campus without supervision. Are not the students in high school? Should we not have the responsibility to be able…

The argument against backpacks is now justified because students can keep back packs with them and nobody will get hurt. Teachers can set up a designated area for backpacks to got to prevent tripping or any injuries during the school day. Students backpacks will no longer lay about and cause a potential threat to students and teachers safety. We can place them in certain areas of the classroom so that we to continuously ensure the safety of faculty and students. Also back packs pose no greater danger with weapons and or drugs then students everyday purses, gym bags, or even laptop bags. Those items can be just as dangerous as any book bag out there. A bag is a bag, so if you're allowing gym bags, purses or anything of the sort consider that the threat may still remain without backpacks. Last of all having backpacking during emergencies would speed up any the safety procedure since your backpack would be right there with you at all times during the day. If there would ever be a need to leave the school you would have all of your essentials with you so you can grab what you need and exit the building. If you have everything with you evacuating would be much faster, compared to if a student had something precious in his or her locker that they had to…

I think that lockers should be checked because there could be drugs, alcohol, and weapons in the lockers. Bringing all of this stuff to school is highly against the rules and against the law. These things could kill you and you could kill others. If student’s lockers were checked it would reduce the gun killing and selling of drugs. Student’s lockers should be checked randomly. With randomly checking the lockers, students will not know what day they will be checked. They will never know when to take the drugs, guns, or alcohol out of the locker.…

Public schools across the United States have been dealing with the issue of dress codes. As of 2008, twenty-two U.S. states specifically authorized schools to institute dress codes or uniform policies (8). School boards may generally create and enforce dress code, but they must do so without violating students’ constitutional law (9). Schools are finding difficulty in enforcing their dress code among students. Parents feel as if the schools dress codes are condoning their students for expressing themselves and say that it is unconstitutional and wrong. Parents, students, and administrators all have the idea of uniforms in the back of their mind but, they will have to give up things to have them. Though a dress code for high schools students is appropriate, uniforms would be a better option.…
