Assault Weapons should be illegal in the USA.
On June 5, 2013 “a 10 year old boy, and his 9 year old friend found a 9mm semi-automatic in their garage of a miramar ranch north home… when they started holding the weapon, it discharged and struck the boy in the chest. Later the boy was taken to the Rady Children's Hospital where he was pronounced dead” (“7 San Diego News”). That death would never have happened if that gun was not there. Although some states allow for the carry of concealed weapons on public property, Assault weapons (for the use of “self defence”) should be banned in the USA.
Assault Weapons have been an issue in the US. There guns that should not be missed with. For example, “July 20, 2012, 12 people were killed and 58 were wounded in an aurora, Colorado movie …show more content…
“In December 11, of 2012, 2 people were killed and one was wounded at clackamas town center mall in happy valley, Oregon; Jacob Roberts used a bushmaster .223 caliber semi automatic, and he then killed himself at the scene (Richman). This is one incidence of many more where a assault gun was used. This shows how the assault weapon is a very dangerous gun, and it should be illegal to have one. In 1989, a group of California lawmakers - were horrified by the shooting at a stockton schoolyard - so they adopted (made) the first assault weapons ban in the country….giving new life to the group of gun control advocates to re-enact the federal assault weapon ban that expired in 2004 (Richman). This talks about how back then they did the first ever assault weapon ban in the country, It shows how dangerous the assault weapon is and if California banned the assault weapon then, the whole US should too.
