Should Animal Testing Be Illegal
Animal testing is believed to help out the human race, but this idea can quickly be proven to do more wrong than right. Not to mention the inhumane procedures animals are forced to endure during the process. Does the human race really need new pesticides, chemicals, consumer products, drugs, etc. to risk animals lives and prive them from their liberty by testing on them? Despite the efforts to put an end to animal testing throughout the years and the approval of new alternative methods, animals continue to be used on toxical research and testing. Many are not even protected by the Animal Welfare Act. To put a definite end to animal testing, labs have to start using the other alternative methods more often and come up with new ideas throughout the years. The human race has to work together to put an end to this injust action that has been taking place in labs for years. Animal testing should be illegal due to it’s lack of accuracy, the unethical procedures and it’s archaic ideology. To begin with, animal testing has an incredibly high lack of accuracy when the product is tested by a human. This is due to the fact that animals differ from one another biologically. So, the product can work on animals but the chances for it to work on humans …show more content…
Scientist should start focusing on improving the methods that are actually working and forgetting about the ones that aren’t. That would benefit the animals in the way that they wouldn’t be needed in labs and would be able to live a free, cheerful life. It would also benefit scientists by giving them information that will actually help them discover new information about the human health and the human body. By completely forgting about animal testing we would be doing the human and animal race a big

Though animal testing should be banned from ever being practiced or used again, people still view it as a necessity despite all of the evidence against it. Animal testing requires inhumane, unsanitary, unsafe, or cruel conditions that if done to humans would be outlawed since they either reduce the quality of life or cause disease or death. Seeing that animals are living, breathing creatures that want to survive just as much as people do, assuming that test conditions are not good for human kind, then they are not good for any living creatures. Furthermore, they are inherently wrong by nature. Tolerating animal cruelty promotes the same insensitivity that allows cruelty to people, such as serial killers and the early incidents of animal torture.…

An estimated 26 million animals are used every year in the United States fir various types of testing. These animals are used for scientific and commercial testing to develop medical treatments, determine toxicity of medications and chemicals, check the safety of products destined for human use and other biomedical or healthcare purposes. This testing on animals is cruel, inhumane and should be banned. It should be banned because the animals are held and live in inhumane conditions, it is harmful and at times lethal to the animals and there are other research method available that do not require animal testing.…

The first reason why we shouldn’t have animal testing is because animals are getting hurt or abused. “Over 100 million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned, and abused in US labs every year.” The chemicals that the people are using are burning or other worse things to them. The chemicals that they use on the animals could hurt or kill them. Over half of side effects cannot be detected in…

Most animal testing is very inaccurate because human beings have different chemistry than animals, some animals are similar to humans but they have gaps that can prevent or make false cures that can do more harm than help that is why animals are given medicine that people are not prescribed. “U.S. Food and Drug Administration found that 92 percent of drugs entering clinical trials following animal testing fail to be approved. One more reason I am against the use of animals for product testing is because of the cost of it. Animal testing generally costs an enormous amount of money, as the animals must be fed, housed, cared for and treated with drugs or a similar experimental substance. On top of that, animal testing may occur more than once and over the course of months, which means that additional costs are acquired. The price of animals themselves must also be factored into the equation. There are companies who breed animals specifically for testing and animals can be purchased through them.…

Drugs that are successful in animals can fail on humans. Studies show that 94% of the drugs tested on animals don't even work on humans (procon.org). Another problem is researchers may mislead end or ignore cures because they didn't work on animals. “Some chemicals that are harmful to animals prove valuable when used by humans. Aspirin, for example, is dangerous for some animal species, and Fk-506 (tacrolimus), used to lower the risk of organ transplant rejection, was ‘almost shelved’ because of animal test results, according to neurologist Aysha Akhtar, MD, MPH.” says procon.org. The biggest problem is how different animals are to us. Although some animals have similar DNA to us, it reacts differently. It's like playing the guitar, you may play Don't Stop Believing, by Journey, and Someone Like You, by Adele, you are using the same chords, but they are two very different songs. “The anatomic, metabolic, and cellular differences between animals and people make animals poor models for human beings.” states procon.org.…

As a result of their thought process they also believe that it is okay to test harmful material and chemicals on animals because they are not human beings. Animal experimentation, animal research and animal practice all generally mean the same thing. One may be more familiar with the term animal testing. Animal testing has been a controversial topic between supporters and the adversary for quite some time, but animal testing is wrong, even if it helps find cures for illnesses. Between all the strong public opinions, hefty fines and likelihood of the tested drugs working on humans, it is best if animal testing comes to an end. Animal testing came to scientists back in 500 BC by Greeks. It has always been such a controversial topic, because of the harm that comes to the animals. Proponents to animal testing say that animal research is beneficial. They say that numerous life-saving treatments…

Forget cruelty or animal rights, using animals to test our pharmaceuticals is outdated, ineffective, and a waste of money. New more efficient and cheaper alternatives have been found that could end animal testing for good, if only government would take the initiative. It’s frustrating to realize that we could have had better and more effective medication at a lower coast. Some medications that passed animal experimentation have been shown to be much more harmful to humans than the diseases they were created to treat.…
