Should Animal Testing Be Illegal?
Animal testing is the experimentation of products or medicine on animals. Sometimes it works, and the experiment does not harm the animal, but when it fails what happens? The animals get severe injuries and some extreme products can even lead to death. Animal testing has been going on for a long time and it is believed that it started in the 2nd and 4th centuries BC. So, should it stop now? Should animal testing be illegal?
Global Perspectives
In the UK, scientists were warned by the research agencies to improve the way they use animals for experiments. There were many poorly designed projects reported recently that produced useless results and that wasted the lives of many animals. Researchers say that a meaningless experiment is a waste

It is cruel and inhumane to test different substances on animals and hope for the best. But if the animal is unlucky and the experiment fails, who pays for the wasted lives and resources? I understand that producers want to constantly develop their production and that there may be no better alternative, but many brands found ways to replace animal testing with other methods. Elmiplant uses other personal techniques to develop their products and save lives in the same time. They use their specialized equipment and professional chemists to test different substances, without harming anyone. In addition, animal testing can be very unreliable and therefore have massive negative impacts on humans. Animals are similar in many ways to the human body, but in the same time, they are very different. Many people died or were harmed as the specific products didn’t show any negative reactions on the animals but turned to be very catastrophic to the human body. I don’t believe that animals should be sacrificed for the sake of innovation as they, as any creature on Earth, have the right to live and the right to freedom. I am and will always be against animal …show more content…
Maybe animal testing cannot disappear overnight but, there are certainly ways in which we can reduce it. Persuading companies to use less harsh chemicals in their products is the major method. If they use less chemicals, the harm done to the animals experimented on will decrease massively. Also, the only reason that humans would suffer more harshly by testing products first hand would be because of harsh chemicals used in most of the products. If people cannot be convinced to buy less harmful products, the governments can intervene. They can offer tax breaks for the companies who reduce the amounts of harmful chemicals used. If more natural products are manufactured, the environment will be more eco-friendly as we will be having less toxins going throughout our society. Many scientists nowadays test chemicals using sophisticated tests using human cells and tissues, advanced computer-modeling and studies with human

Animal testing is wasteful, useless, and dangerous. The experiments that are done on these animals are gruesome. Bountiful amounts of people (about 62% in 2004 according to Heather Mason Kiefer) argue that animal testing is necessary in order to produce safe products. On the contrary, several studies have found these methods to be questionable. They lack accurate, safe results.…

Do you want to see animals abused and killed sometimes for nothing? Animal testing is flawed and can produce very unreliable results. Around 26 million animals are used every year for scientific and commercial testing. These animals are used to determine the toxicity and effectiveness of medications before they test it on humans. Therefore animal testing should be banned.…

Overall, animal testing is erroneous because it does not contribute anything meaningfully to the world. When animals are tested often the results are irrelevant, due to the fact, animals have many differences from humans. Also, the animals endure poor conditions. Lastly, the animals’ lives are wasted by being tested on products that are not important. Testing animals is abusive and needs to…

An estimated 26 million animals are used every year in the United States fir various types of testing. These animals are used for scientific and commercial testing to develop medical treatments, determine toxicity of medications and chemicals, check the safety of products destined for human use and other biomedical or healthcare purposes. This testing on animals is cruel, inhumane and should be banned. It should be banned because the animals are held and live in inhumane conditions, it is harmful and at times lethal to the animals and there are other research method available that do not require animal testing.…

Right now, millions of mice, rats, rabbits, cats, dogs, and other animals are locked inside cold, barren cages in laboratories across the country. “For days they languish in pain, ache with loneliness and long to roam free and use their minds” (PETA). These animals come from a wide variety of places such as city pounds, zoos, commercial breeders, and even circuses. Did you know that around the world these animals are being used to test products ranging from shampoo to new cancer drugs? In fact almost every medical treatment that you use has been tested on animals. For instance, animals were used to develop anesthetics (AnimalPort). All they can do is sit and wait in fear of the next terrifying and painful procedure that will be performed on them. “The stress, sterility and boredom causes some animals to develop neurotic behaviors such incessantly spinning in circles, rocking back and forth and even pulling out their own hair and biting their own skin” (PETA). Believe it or not animal testing is not required by law, animal testing is only done to protect companies from consumer lawsuits (Zoomshare). Animal testing…

The first reason why we shouldn’t have animal testing is because animals are getting hurt or abused. “Over 100 million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned, and abused in US labs every year.” The chemicals that the people are using are burning or other worse things to them. The chemicals that they use on the animals could hurt or kill them. Over half of side effects cannot be detected in…

Animal testing has been going on for a couple of years now. Scientists use animal testing as a form of “safe” testing. According to Humane Society International, animal testing is, “Procedures performed on living animals for purposes of research into the basic biology and diseases, assessing the effectiveness of new medicinal products, and testing the human health and/or environmental safety of consumer and industry products such as cosmetics, household cleaners, food additives, pharmaceuticals and industrial/agro-chemicals. (1)” Many companies use animal testing because it is easier, or more ethical, to…

There are a lot of bad things that happen in this world and Animal Testing is one of them. Doctors,Scientists and other people test on these animals everyday. In my opinion there should be no animal testing at all. It is cruel. Right now there are millions of animals sitting in cold cages waiting for their next painful procedure. The stress, sterility and boredom causes them to develop neurotic behaviors such as, biting themselves and running around in circles. Most of these animals are killed after the testing because there is no possible way for them to live after this has happened. More than 100 million animals suffer this torture. Exact numbers have not been found, in rats, mice, birds, and cold blooded animals take up about 90 percent.…

This is true, but it overlooks that someone will still have to be the first human to test the product regardless. The Food and Drug administration requires some testing, but there are alternatives that cost less and take less time, and are more accurate than animal testing. Harvard's Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering has created “organs on chips” which are made with living human cells. These chips can replace animal testing in the future. Wyss researchers wrote on the organs-on-chips project page, "Clinical studies take years to complete and testing a single compound can cost more than $2 million. Meanwhile, innumerable animal lives are lost, and the process often fails to predict human responses." In conclusion, in order to end animal testing, it needs to be harder to violate the Animal Welfare Act and more appealing to consider alternatives. I wish to end with a quote by Professor Charles R. Magel, “Ask the experimenters why they experiment on animals, and the answer is: ‘Because they are like us,’ ask the experimenters why it is morally okay to experiment on animals, and the answer is: ‘Because the animals are not like…

Europe, which has the largest cosmetics market in the world, along with Israel, and India all have banned animal testing for cosmetics. They also banned the sale and import of newly animal tested beauty products (“11 Facts About Animal Testing”). The US should follow in the footsteps of these countries to help reduce animal testing rates. There are also some alternative testing options that don’t require animals to be used all the time (“In Testing | Alternatives to Animal Testing and Research”). Animal testing shouldn’t be continued, because the drugs produced from it rarely work, it’s cruel and inhumane, and it’s an expensive process.…

Animal testing has been a topic of debate for many generations. It is difficult to imagine a common house hold pet subjected to extreme procedures of the mildest and painless form to the harshest form imaginable. I am talking about your average mouse, rabbit, cat or dog. At the same time, consumers want to be assured they are using the safest products available, and people want science to find cures for life-threatening diseases. Lately, science has tried to prove out theories and hypnosis through computer algorithms but we still have to rely on physical subjects like the animals referenced. There is no public argument that says we should not test products before entering the market, the debate is the method by which these products should be tested. Animal testing is necessary for biomedical research, but should be eradicated for vanity reasons in terms of cosmetics.…
