The first story I Picked was The Screech Owl Who Liked Television. This story was about A girl name Twig and a small gray screech owl named Yammer. When Twig had to stop watching TV, Yammer was still watching it. They were watching a cowboy show and the guy riding on the horse looked like a mouse to Yammer. Yammer went to catch it but got hurt. Twig helped him and wonder if she would let him free. The second story was A Crow Kidnapping. This story was about a crow named Crowbar that lived with a family for 2 and a half years. There were crows outside trying to convince him to go with them for migration. The first couple of times he didn’t. But On the fifth day they saw the fly away and there was no Crowbar. In this essay I will be explaining the…
Have you ever read a story or stories that have literary elements? Well, all stories have literary elements, but today I’m going to compare, and contrast three stories “Liberty”, “Sniper”, and “Harrison Bergeron” along with three elements conflict, setting, and character. Conflict is the first literary element I will talk about with these stories. Each story had a conflict that was like each other.…
3 Body paragraphs should include italicized transitional words in each topic sentence. (2 body paragraphs for Foundations Level students) Each body paragraph should name one story element that shows your chosen story’s superiority over the other one. Each body paragraph should be filled with specific story details that illustrate how your chosen story embodies that element and how the other story does not, or how the other story does not embody that element as well as the chosen story does. Each body paragraph should be unified around one story element that you are comparing and contrasting. Choose three story elements from the list below. Construct a body paragraph about each of your choices.…
I really enjoyed the story “What you pawn I will redeem” by Sherman Alexie. What made it so enjoyable for me, was not only Jackson who is the main character but also the friends and cousins which were mentioned throughout this story. This story had great characters and a very great story line. Thanks to the main character I got to experience firsthand what it like is to be, not only homeless, but also an alcoholic. During this entire story I felt sorry for Jackson because he was trying his best to get the money for his grandmother’s regalia who passed away and he did not know how to get the money.…

The two stories I choose are "Little Things Are Big", and "A Retrieve Reformation". I choose "Little things are big" because it demonstrates the difficulties of trying to fit in a society. I also choose it because it interests me to know what those difficulties are. I also choose "A Retrieve Reformation" because it is told by a person who actually went to jail. What I would like to find out by reading this story is if the person who is trying to open the safes get caught or if he escapes. I like both but I'm going to choose 'Little things are big" because I would like to know how difficult it was for Puerto Ricans to fit in with…

There are three stories that I loved in particular during this quarter. The Things They Carried, A Roman Incident, and A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings. These three stories carried a lot of emotion and excitement. They all have different plots and backgrounds, but for the most part, there are so much in common between these three stories in a psychological, socio/political, spiritual, queer, and feminist lens. Besides those examples, the one thing that connects these three the most is that the reader can find love in all of the stories.…

The story I chose was Lifeguard by Barbara Scott, I think that I can relate to this story the most out of the 3 I had chosen to read. And it has more meaning to the story then just what’s written. It has more internal problems with the two main characters, Chris and Mike as they both are facing their own family events. The 3 things I chose to speak about were the symbols, theme and my personal connections to/of the story.…

The short story I chose is “The Blue Bowl” by Jane Kenyon. In this story the author’s pet has died. The theme to me would be the death of a pet, or more specific death of a cat. This poem tells the tale of a family that has lost their pet. The poem demonstrates the pain of the family members due to the loss. The narrator briefly gives you a description of the family pet, “His long red fur, the white feathers between his toes, and his long, not to say aquiline, nose.” The narrator takes you into the pain and helplessness of the family when their pet cat died. This poem is full of symbolism.…
I was so lost, but later found. Julian discovered me. My parents weren’t born in England, escaped their country and began a new life here. Only to be separated from their new lives several years later. They were fugies and you can imagine what happened to them. It was in the wake of, what I assume, their death that Julian revived me. She mesmerized me; she was my leader to a new life. How could I disagree with someone who had saved me? How could I betray her? Guilt washes over my body as I scan the horizon for the source, but in a second, the emotion is gone. I am Luke and I am about commit an act of betrayal that I promised myself I would never do. We are nearing the end of this agonizingly long car ride when I see the car. The blockade between the road ahead of us that has sealed my fate as a traitor.…
