In the short story "The Continuing Mission" by Adam Lance Garcia the two characters that stood out to me were Bah'rack and Dr.Biden. Even in this fiction story their heartwarming friendship was seen. With no doubt this short story had a unique and creative way of depicting political aspects in today's world. For instance, the characters portrayed in this short story were former President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. Many controversies emerged during the Obama administration only because he became our first African American president.…

However, the situation got worse when one of the people involved in the discussion tried to take advantage of the other. In this case, the Iranian man did not want to pay the Mexican for his services, and later he blamed the Mexican for the burglary of his store. The Iranian man, blinded by his fury, tried to get even by killing the one who supposedly robbed his store, but fortunately, the gun did not have bullets. This scene exposes how the differences between people cause tension, misunderstanding, distrust, and hatred between them and how this kind of behavior can lead to unnecessary results harming the innocent, which in this case was a…

It is a book of 470 pages divided in six parts that besides Sor Juana’s life and work, explain the difficulties of the time for an intellectual woman. It was published by The Belknap Press of Harvard University Press Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1988. Reading this book gave me the best opportunity to know more about someone that although has been very influential in my entire life, I didn’t know all her history. My admiration and respect for Sor Juana started since I was a child and one of my sisters used to read her poems. Through my literature classes I knew a little more about her and the…

The first article I have chosen is, "Juncture in the road: Chicano Studies Since: "El plan de Santa Barbara" by Ignacio M. Garcia. I have chosen this particular article for various reasons. One is because reading the first few paragraphs of the article stirred up many emotions within me. I found myself growing angry and once, again, repulsed by the United States discrimination system. The more knowledge I obtain on the United States, on its past and how it develops today, I can finally say that I resent everything it stands for and embarrassed being part of it. I would rather say that I am a country of one…myself. The second reason for choosing this article, was because it was an easy read for me as well as the topic being discussed was intriguing.…

In Julia Alvarez's Yo!, Yolanda Garcia's family and friends get their chance to tell the truth about Yo. They express their feelings and their stories about Yo, including how she's always told lies, how she stole the plot for a story from a student, and how her college professor kept trying to prevent her from ruining her life and her talents. Alvarez tells Yolanda's story through other characters, while Yo is denied the privilege of defending herself. It is ironic because initially, the novel is based on Yolanda and how angry her loved ones are after she publishes a book that exposes personal things about each of them. In this novel, these very people are working to set the story straight and portray the true Yolanda Garcia that they know, a liar, a plagiarist, and a dropout.…

    Essay On Diego Rivera

The main reason I chose Diego Rivera is because I want to learn more culture from my country Mexico. In all the years I lived in Mexico I was never exposed to any art history. I didn’t know who Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera were until I started taking Spanish in High School here in the United States. Diego Rivera is famous because of all the murals and frescos he painted through out his life. He was part of the muralist movement in Mexico, as well as the cubist era. I feel like this research has helped me to get to know more about my native country’s history. I will be analyzing Diego Rivera’s Epic of the Mexican People: History of Mexico, The Flower Vendor (Girl with Lilies), Portrait of Martin Luis Guzman, Dia de Los Muertos,…
