Vacation to remember
On a beautiful day in July, the sun shone brightly above the ocean where a sail boat leisurely floated. A pirate, named Nabarun who is the captain of his own boat, along with his friend Paandu were sailing on the coast of Vancouver. Nabarun and Paandu had come from India and had been best friends for 10 years; they had big dreams of travelling the world together because Nabarun was a pirate and owned his own sail boat which made it easier for them to travel and see family on the other side of the world. They had set out an adventure along with their pets, Nabarun’s parrot Denver and Paandu’s cat Jane.
It was the 5th day traveling and they would take breaks from driving to sleep for hours from time to time. On the sixth day Paandu felt bored because there wasn’t much to do on the boat besides fish, play cards, and look at the dolphins jumping in and out of the water. He thought it would be fun to jump off the boat and hang off the back while Robert drove. As Paandu jumped off the sail boat he remembered the GPS was inside of his pocket. He panicked and jumped back on the sail boat and told Nabarun what happened.
“When I jumped off the boat, I think the GPS fell out because I remember it being inside my pocket.”
“What!? Now what are we going to do? We don’t know where to go, we’re lost! Why would you do something like that Paandu?” Nabarun yelled.
“I’m sorry, I just wasn’t thinking. I was bored out of my mind.” Paandu replied softly.
As a result Nabarun had no choice but to steer the sailboat toward the closest Island where they could see not far away from them. He approached a young couple were walking along the beach; Nabarun asked,
“Hi we from India and need help finding Mexico. My friend lost our GPS and now we don’t know where we are. Can you help us?”
The young couple gave a confused look and walked away.
“Désolé nous ne vous comprenons” the young lady replied.
Nabarun fell to his knees “There is no way were going to find

The oiler, guiding with one of the two oars in the boat, sometimes raised himself suddenly to keep away from the water that poured in. It was a thin little oar, and it often seemed ready to break. The correspondent, pulling at the other oar, watched the waves and wondered why he was there. The hurt captain, lying in the front, was feeling defeat and despair. It was despair that comes, for a time at least, to even the bravest and most enduring when the business fails, the army loses, the ship goes down. The mind of the master of a vessel is rooted deep in her wood, whether he commands for a day or many. And this captain had in his thoughts the firm impression of a scene in the grays of dawn, with seven faces turned down in the sea. And later the remains of the ship, washed by waves, going low and lower and down. Thereafter there was something strange in his voice. Although steady, it was deep with grief, and of a quality beyond speech or tears.“Keep her a little more south, Billie,” said he.“A little more south, sir,” said the oiler in the back.A seat in this boat was not unlike a seat upon a jumpy horse, and a horse is not much smaller. The boat was much like an animal. As each wave…

The men find it difficult to communicate with one another, since they are unwilling to sound foolishly optimistic, but also are unhappy to make dire predictions. The captain assures them that they will reach the shore eventually. Seagulls fly close to the boat, “uncanny and sinister in their unblinking scrutiny, and the men hooted angrily at them, telling them to be gone” (Crane 60). One bird lurks very closely, and the captain must be careful to wave it away gently for fear of disturbing the dinghy’s precarious position. In the far distance, the men finally glimpse the lighthouse.…
