Short Art Research Essay On Diego Rivera

Art Research In 1931 renowned artist Diego Rivera painted a mural of Agrarian Leader Zapata and his compresinos or peasant workers who followed him. The original mural is in the Cortes Palace in Cuernavaca, Mexico. It is still admired to this day. In 1931 he painted a “portable copy” of this larger mural for exhibition in the United States of America. This is a very unique fresco painting, being that it is portable. Fresco is the art or technique of painting on a moist plaster surface with the colors ground up in water or lime water mixture. He produced 7 other “portable Fresco pieces for his exhibition in The Museum of Modern Art in New York City, New York. The frescos were copies of various murals in the palace. Diego Maia Concepion Juan Nepomuceno Estanislao de las Rivera y Barrientos Acosta Rodriguez, best known as Diego Rivera, was born on December 8, 1886 according to his mother Maria, her sister Cesarea and the records at the town hall. But according to the baptism records of the Guanauato Ecclesiastical he was born on December 13, 1886. The doctor that delivered Diego also delivered his twin brother Carlos.
Later, his father would take him back and teach him to read and enroll him in a clerical school, but when he was 8 he was expelled from this school because of his lack of personal hygiene. None the less, Diego received his education from the Academic course of San Carlos. Diego was born into a period of Mexican politics that was based on the influence of the different social tiers. If you were middle class to upper class you were known to live the high life with French customs, great foods and wonderful accommodations.
