Seperating the SAs from the general student population, allowed several impactful factors to come to light. When faced with choosing a major, eligibility and availability issues can force a SA to choose a major that allows them to keep their comittment to team obligations and meet requirements to maintain their eligibility within NCAA standards, rather than choose based on their perosnal interests and goals (Navarro). Navarro found SAs that had an identity independent of their sports role and those who utilized the college resources outside of the athletic department, had a better grasp on what they wanted and how they could achieve it. The results of this study accentuated the need for additional resources tailored for SAs that go beyond the athlete role and that place a priority of the student part of the student-athlete identity. This research project and process relied on each individual’s honesty and individual experience and because of those limitations, it does not have external validity. The findings were representative of the university where the athletes attended, but to apply findings on a larger scale, studies like these are the jumping off point to create such quantitative…

With its number of total student enrollment at about 8,300 students, USD allows me to experience a mid-larger sized school while remaining comfortable in such a tight community. Since I am most likely not continuing my athletic career at USD, I would love to join and experience all different clubs offered here. I will love to still continue competing in sports and outdoor activities through club or intramural organizations for a variety of sports. The educational clubs offered at San Diego that really spark my interest are the Entrepreneurship Club, Founder’s Club, and many of the business focused clubs. Besides just basic clubs, I would also want to join greek life and participate in sorority of young woman who have very similar interests and values to me. Have you ever heard of the book Where The Wild things are by Maurice Sendak? This book is very popular among children and adults. While I was researching and investigating Maurice Sendak, I found a lot of interesting facts about his life and accomplishments. Maurice Sendak was born on June 10, 1928, in Brooklyn, New York and died on May 8, 2012 (About). His Jewish family came to the United States from Poland and lost many members of their extended family due to the Holocaust. Maurice was a sickly child and had to spend a lot of time indoors. He spent a lot of time reading, drawing, and letting his imagination run free (goodreads). Maurice learned to love stories as a young child when his father told him embellished versions of Bible stories. At the age of twelve, Maurice became very inspired by the animated world of Walt Disney’s “Fantasia.” He was fascinated with Disney, particularly Mickey Mouse and the film Fantasia, which he saw when he was twelve and had a lasting effect on him. In 1948 he worked at FAO Schwartz as a window dresser while he took night classes at the New York Arts Students League.…
