Sexual Assault; More Awareness, Less Cases
Sexual abuse is a pressing issue all over the world and has been for years. Sexual assault can happen anywhere; the workplace, war, home, on the street. Since the 1960s, movements to raise awareness and prevent sexual assault have been made. The statistics for sexual assault are way too high. Alertness and taking notice of one’s surroundings is a great way to keep oneself that much safer.
If people continue to go on not knowing about sexual assault and how to prevent it, the rates will only go up. As the years go on, people find new ways to avoid becoming a victim. To prevent the chances of sexual abuse, people need to be informed.
Since 1995 until 2010, the rate of sexual abuse against women has gone down by 60 percent. Thanks to raising awareness and taking extra precautions, the number of sexual assault cases has drastically dropped. The rate for sexual assault is still high, but significant improvements have been made. If the rate of sexual abuse continues to drop the way it has been, the United States can be almost completely free of sexual assault.
Sexual abuse is not just a problem in the United States, but all over the world. It is a crime that can happen anywhere to anyone. To lower the high rate of sexual assault, people need to become more aware of the problem and take steps to prevent it.
