Sexual Abuse Stories

People, such as Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, Louis C.K., and Roy Moore, find it ridiculous as to why people would bring up their sexual abuse cases that happened many years ago. Here recently women and men who have been sexual abused have come out with their stories decades after it happened. It took them a very long time to talk about their story and certain details about it, such as of who their abuser was and where and when the abusing actions happened. It took them awhile before they wanted to even seek justice for what had happened to them. Why would they come out now? Victims would do this for several reasons. One reason could be that she or he has put a safe distance between herself/himself and her/his abuser. Other times the victim tells his or her story because the abuser has died. Another reason for victims coming out would be that they are worried that there are other victims. Sometimes the victims realize that they will not ever find peace until they admit that they were sexually abused. Victims, sometimes, realize that it is not too late to report the crime and they decide to speak up. There has been an increase in men and women, who were sexual abused, reporting or speaking up about the story of their abusement. There has been an increase of people opening up about their past sexual abusement that occurred years ago. People who have been sexually abused tend to keep it quiet or keep it to themselves for many reasons. Here lately, however, people have begun to speak up about their past sexual abusement. People can have many different reasons for waiting to open up about being sexually abused.
