There are four places in the Bible where St. Michael is found. The first is in the book of Daniel. Michael is said to comfort Daniel after he has had a vision and promises to be his helper in all things. The second is also found in Daniel, where St. Michael is called “the great prince who standees for the children of Thy people.” (Stephens 270-271) Michael was said to be Israel’s support during Babylonian captivity. Then third is in the New Testament, where Michael is said to have argued with the devil over the body of Moses. The fourth, John tells about the great battle in Heaven, where Lucifer and his demons go against God. The brain is a highly sophisticated puzzle with millions of connections that scientists can only dream of unlocking. Unfortunately, the human race has a tendency to ignore the fact that the wisdom accumulated in this small three pound gray mass in our skulls is there to help us with emotion, intelligence, and most importantly: common sense. Although the brain is not fully developed until the age of twenty-five, most people learn their basic thinking and morals during their early stages of life which is why a child has a tendency to act the same way as they were raised. The John F. Kennedy Pool has witnessed its fair share of moral lacking adults and common sense lacking kids. Children at the this swimming hole have the capability of becoming…

For instance, many people begin to worship the Virgin Mary and even the Chartres Cathedral when built, is dedicated to her because of the churches holding of her relic. Kraus states that its conflicting because “they dedicated all their churches to her” and in St. Bernard, they “devoted a whole series of his homilies to the mother of Christ, that “strong woman” upon whom “our salvation, the recovery of our innocence and the victory over our enemy [Satan] depends” (Kraus, 101). Therefore, the Virgin Mary was depicted as glorious and someone that was looked upon in his or her prayers and in the religious society because of the great importance that she held as the mother of the all time savior in the religious world. To add on, in the Santa Maria Maggorie, Rome, 432-40, there is a piece of art work titled “Annunciation and Epiphany, Triumphal Arch Mosaic, S. Maria Maggiore,” we get another portrayal of the Virgin Mary as a women with huge importance. For instance, in the top layer of the artwork, for the first time, we do not see Christ on her lap, as previous times, but rather alone. This is a tremendous change because Mary was always with Christ in one way or another, and in the top image, she is finally by herself being glorified by the angels and glory people around her. She also has a dove…

All Eastern religions have various things in common. The view of how a person should spend their lives in this earth is all too similar yet they all have a different way of living and showing their devotion. Many of these cultures revolve around a simple idea of reaching nirvana and finally leading to moksha- the release from the eternal circle of life or mukti in Sikhism. Many of the Eastern religions also focus of keeping good karma and respecting the spiritual world by praying to their ancestors. Many of them view the world as full of spirits, that there are spiritual beings in everything we see and everything we touch, and to respect these spirits will finally lead to the liberation from the earth.…

The Seven Deadly Sins is a major aspect to the religion of Christianity. Religion in the Middle Ages was exceedingly important and the central character to the lives of the people living in this time era. In early fourteenth century, Robert Manning of Brunne wrote a poem of an educational text informing people to avoid the seven deadly sins. Accountability is something that everyone in the Righteous Brothers has. Having accountability is something that is very important and it’s something that God wants all of us to have. God holds all of his kids accountable. “So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God” (Romans14:12). “Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:1-2). An accountability partner is there to encourage, pray, lead, and build one another up.…

I chose an article from the Atlanta Metro Newspaper. The article I chose to write about had to do with Bishop Eddie Long and his ex-wife’s allegations of his beating her throughout their marriage. There is a lot going on in the news about Mr. Long and his allegations of sexual coercion with four young men. If this isn’t a form of deviance, than I don’t what is. I know deviance deals with crime that that break cultural norms and this subject breaks a lot of our cultural norms as Americans. You would think that a Bishop would not fit this topic at all, but it just goes to show that anyone is capable of committing a crime, even a Bishop.…
