(statistical and regression), TABLE (build number

Access previous calculations (not available in STAT
mode).
REPLAY
(left and right arrows)
Step into a previous calculation (to check or edit a
calculation).
All Clear
Clear screen for next calculation.
Delete
Delete item to the left of the cursor's position.
Standard to Decimal
Convert a fraction or square root answer to decimal.
Answer Memory
The result of the most recent calculation (can be used
in the next calculation).

Setup for first use

Turn on computation mode
Turn on decimal notation
Turn off scientific notation
Turn off improper fraction notation
You only need to perform the above steps once. Some of the features described in these slides will not work unless you make these changes.

Decimal notation is preferred over fraction notation in most areas of this course.

Notice the difference between the following calculations. Pay attention to the maths notation also.

In the first calculation, the square root of 5 is calculated and then multiplied by two. In the second calculation, 5 multiplied by 2 is calculated, then the square root of the result is calculated (square root of 10).

If a calculation contains a negative number, you may need to place brackets around the negative number.
For example, if you want to calculate –2 to the power of 6, you need to input (− 2)6.

If the brackets are excluded, the calculator computes 2 to the power of 6 first, then applies the negative. This is because the power function comes before the negative function in the order of operations. This gives a different result.
