Service Request SR-rm-022, Part 1 Riordan Manufacturing is a global plastics manufacturer employing 550 people with projected annual earnings of $46 million. There is a plant in Albany, GA that produces plastic beverage containers, a plant in Pontiac, MI that produces custom plastic parts, and a plastic fan parts facility in Hangzhou, China. The corporate office is in San Jose, CA along with the corporations Research and Development Department. Riordan Manufacturing is a subsidiary of the parent company Riordan Industries, Inc. a Fortune 1000 enterprise with revenues in excess of $1 billion (Apollo Group, 2013). Mr. Hugh McCauley, COO of Riordan Manufacturing has issued a Service Request SR-rm-022 to Smith Services Consulting Inc. desiring to integrate the existing variety of HR tools into a single integrated application using today's existing tools in the HR system. This request will affect all plant locations of Riordan Manufacturing. Riordan would like to take advantage of a more sophisticated, state-of-the-art, information systems technology in their Human Resources department. The expected results will define the business requirements for the development of an HR system to support the objective of this request. The objective is to create a detailed system design and a project implementation plan required to complete the project. The project should be completed in approximately six months, so the new system can be utilized in the second quarter of next year (Apollo Group, Inc. 2011). Smith Services Consulting Inc. has contracted my services as a systems analysis to analyze the HR system at Riordan Manufacturing. The business needs and current technical resources must be defined first before the analysis is begun. The current HIRS system, a part of Riordan's ERP system and separate from the branch offices, was installed in 1992. The HIRS system is part of the financial systems package
