Service Dog In The Workplace Essay

Allowing employees to bring their dogs to the workplace is a potentially disasterous idea. There is, however, a possible compromise if precautions are taken and strict rules are upheld. Dogs, while most are often friendly and goodnatured, are stillunpredictable creatures. Even the most well-mannered dog could hurt someone, whether it was intentional or not. In addition, many people are allergic to dogs, and allowing others to bring their dogs to work would put these people in a potentially very harmful situation. A dog in the workplace can cause even more hazards, as some domestic canines are highly excitable or will get underfoot, tripping up hapless employees and causing a ruckus that would disturb everyone within earshot. Even dogs that are supposedly well-trained might cause problems. Some dogs, for example, will bark at just about everything that moves. Anyone can say that their dog is well-trained, but there are still risks. However, there is an alternative. There is a certain type of service dog specifically for alleviating stress. If an employee properly trains their dog to become one of said service dogs, then they would be allowed in the workplace. This
There will still be problems, and many employees will still be strongly opposed to having a domestic canine in the workplace, that cannot be changed. But service dogs should be allowed in any building, thus, employees who have a service dog may bring their dog to the workplace, and those not willing to have their dog trained to the proper specifications may not. If this simple rule is enforced, the majority of employees will be happy - those who want to bring dogs to work may, and those who do not want the descendants of wolves running amock will, hopefully, not have to deal with
