I have a positive attitude and demonstrate it by encouraging the people with positive comments on their achievements. For example, being the committee chairperson of patient documentation, I sent 'kudos' to those staff who does the documentation as per the hospital policy. I treat my teammates with dignity and respect (Warren, 2013). I empathize with my coworkers who face issues and suggest them simple and practical solutions to their issues. I am approachable to anyone in need and keep my promises to others. As my coworkers know my positive and encouraging approach, they have a good opinion about me. They acknowledge that I am helpful in any type of situation. At many occasions, I even heard them talking about me as a supportive and approachable person. Fundamentally, servant leadership entails leaders being servants first. It starts off with a natural feeling that one wants to serve, and goes beyond one’s self interest, where leaders are genuinely concerned about serving their followers. Further, it also involves leaders not using their power to get things done but instead try to persuade and convince their followers. In this way, followers support their leaders and are motivated to become the very best they can become (Dierendonck, 2011).
