After World War two was over, a lot of things changed for the Germany. Nobody trust them anymore, people blamed them for everything, and also nobody was willing to help them. Everything was ruined and destroyed, and so they needed to build everything from the start. Also now there was two Germanys. GDR and FRG. They were all Germans, but they had different beliefs. Their idea about who was responsible for the war and everything else was different. The difference is obvious in The Murderers Are Among Us and The Bridge. In The Murderers Are Among Us, most of them were guilty somehow. While in The Bridge, the idea is that all the Generals and Hitler were responsible for anything that happened, and the rest of them had no power or guilt about anything…

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary the word monster is defined as an imaginary creature that is typically large, ugly, and frightening. But is that what our modern day society really believes a monster is? Through time what people expect to see in a monster has changed. When you think of how people originally thought of aliens and vampires, you realize it’s a lot different than what we think of them today. Originally vampires were thought of being a corpse that would leave its grave at night and feed off the living by biting their necks. They weren’t able to be exposed to the sunlight or be in the sight of garlic. The idea of vampires have been around for millions of years and they have always represented something very horrifying.…

People become serial killers for a reason. The expression “Serial Killers” first presumably originated in 1970 by late FBI Agent Robert Ressler. Before this time society categorized them with Mass Murders. Agent Ressler was lecturing at a college when he heard someone describe the killing as having an unending ‘serial’ cycle. Going back to his childhood, he remembered the movie industry titled “Serial Adventures” which showed short films of Batman and other heroes. None of the shows that were played came to a gratifying close. It always left you wanting more. Ressler came to the conclusion that there should be two separate category’s for mass murders, a single killing of many people at one location, and serial homicide, multiple killings that…

In today's society, people are selfish and don't do anything unless it benefits themselves in one way or another. The reason why I like a good monster story is because they are based on our everyday society. All of the stories we have gone over this far throughout the year are for the most part have some connection with the real world. Jekyll and Hyde, Frankenstein, and serial killers are all monsters that have a special connection to everyday society.…

What makes people do inexplicable, terrible, socially unacceptable acts of violence? This question brings to mind the age old psychological theory, Nature vs. Nurture. Are people born predisposed for violence? Is there something genetically different about serial killers and murderers? Can their behavior be explained by a difference in their very make-up? Or are they made violent by seeing violence, having un-supportive and demanding parents, being mentally, sexually, and physically abused? Nature vs. nurture is one of the most sought after answers in the field of psychology and may never be “answered” but can be “understood” I feel study in the minds of serial killers has helped to define exactly what nature vs. nurture really means.…

One of the most famous questions of all time asks, “Why do serial killers, kill?” Everyone is different in their own way, so no one can really answer that question specifically. Dr. Helen Morrison, author of “My Life Among The Serial Killers” interviewed ten famous serial killers to try to answer this question. She found that almost all of them had similar characteristics besides killing. Unlike what most people believe, she surprisingly found that these characteristics did not include insanity, child abuse, or drug abuse. Instead she explains that their most common trait is that they have an emotional age of an infant. Other characteristics include fluent lying, the lacking ability to comprehend that they did anything wrong, and no memory of the murders however when they do remember they show no mercy.…

    Serial Killer Estimation

I feel that this estimation is too low. I think that one of the most difficult aspects of serial crimes is determining whether or not a new crime has been committed by a random killer, a new serial killer, or a serial killer already in the system. With the popularity of crime shows on television, from the unrealistic solve the crime in an hour with little to no evidence, to true crime shows, criminals are able to easily see techniques that law enforcement use. While some serial killers are completely ritualistic and will not change techniques regardless of the fact that this can and has led to detection, I feel that there are many killers out there that are willing and able to adapt their killing style in order to avoid detection. I feel…

So it's only slightly ok to agree if its happened to you? Rape, serial killers, and child molesters/convicted pedophiles/ sex offenders, these people are not human, they are MONSTERS, Some with not even the slightest sympathy to what they've done. They ruin the lives of the victims and it ripples across the entire family and people around them. It effects EVERYONE. I see all these stories on the news about these horrible beasts. My heart breaks completely not even imagining the pain. If that happened to my loved ones, I cant even imagine what my rage would lead me to do. Knowing that they were hurt in the worst way possible, and not being there to hurt the savage that would such a thing in the first place. The victims lives are changed completely,…

I enjoy reading your post. More often than not, mass murderers tend to target particular victims to avenge perceived injustices. There are also, of course, random and indiscriminate patterns. In almost all cases, innocent bystanders get caught in the crossfire. The more random the pattern, the more likely the perceived injustice is small and insignificant. What can be done to protect society completely from mass murder?…
