Sensodyne toothpaste ingredients

In the modern world, people do not seemed to pay attention to the ingredients that

contained in the products they regularly consume. The ingredients in the products that we use daily can be more harmful than we could ever image. One of the products that people routinely consume is toothpaste. There are three inactive ingredients in Sensodyne toothpaste which could result in allergic reactions, includes sorbitol, sodium saccharin and glycerin.

To begin with, sorbitol is the first additive ingredient contained in the toothpaste. Sorbitol

is also known as glucitol, and it is a sweettasted sugar alcohol with lowcalorie found in fruits.
This artificial sweetener is often used in food, cosmetics and medicines manufacturer.
Additionally, this sugar substituted is most of the time found in drugs as a laxative (Renee,

1978, the Food and Drugs Administrations (FDA) approved that sorbitol helps to draw water from the body tissues area into the colon in order to soften the stool and as a result, help people relieve constipation easier. This is also used as saliva substitutes to prevent dryness in our mouth and as a urinary bladder wash during transurethral prostatectomy (Marks, 2015). However, overuse of sorbitol in a long periods of time can cause severe diarrhea and stomach cramps which eventually lead to anal irritation (Kanen, 2015). Hence, sorbitol is one of the dangerous compounds and it is more likely to put people’s health on risks.

The second harmful ingredient is glycerin. Glycerin is a sweet, thick, colorless liquid and

is also known as a pure alcohol. Glycerin can be found in nature and when it freezes it become to a gummy paste. It is often used as an emollient in drugs and cosmetics, which helps soften and smoothen skin and prevents the skin from irritation. This chemical
