This article is about the kidnapping of Carlina White. Carlina Renae White was born July 15, 1987 and was also known as Nejdra “Netty” Nance. Carlina White was a 23 year old US American citizen who had solved her own kidnapping case at the age of 23. This abduction was known to represent the longest known gap in a non –parental abduction where the victim was returned back to their parents. The story begins when Carlina was just 19 days old when her parents Carl Tyson and Joy white had taken Carlina to the hospital due to her having high fever on August 4, 1987. Unfortunately, they realized that Carlina had swallowed fluid during her delivery and had developed an infection. A woman had overseen Carlina while she was in the hospital however; she was not a hospital employee. This mysterious lady seemed to be normal and had then comforted the parents of Carlina three weeks before the abduction. Baby Carlina disappeared early one morning while the shifts were changing. Unfortunately, the cameras in the hospital where not operating, so the police had nothing to go on but a description from Joy and Carl. The baby was receiving antibiotics when the IV line was cut and she was abducted. One of the hospital guards said that she did recognize the same lady that Joy and Carl described; however, there was no baby with her. The police assumed that the baby could well have been hidden in her smock. This case became the first well known infant abduction from the New York hospital. The city of New York offered a $10,000 cash reward for the return of Carlina. The parents Joy and Carl quickly filed a 100 million dollar suit against the hospital in 1989, and received a 750,000 settlement in 1992. Carlina was raised by Annugetta Pettway in Bridgeport, Connecticut as Nejdra Nance. Throughout the years Carlina grew suspicious because she had no social security card and a forged birth certificate by her assumed mother Annugetta. Carlina also…

The phrase "300 kid" might be very foreign to you and everybody around you. In contrast in the halls of a Juvenile court it's a phrase that is heard to often."How could you blame him, he was a 300 kid". A "300 Kid" is one of those unintentionally dehumanizing verbal short hands so common in the juvenile system. So what is a "300 Kid" it's a synonym for a foster child, dependent child, a beaten, battered, and abused child. In the juvenile system young reoffending offenders are looked at as delinquents and should be locked up and thrown away the key. When in reality what we should do is examine there childhood and figure out at what point did things start going array. We should ask our self these questions? Was he abused? What kind of family did he get brought up with? Drug dealers? Law-abiding parents? These are just few of many questions that one judge or Probation Officer should ask himself before rendering that immense sentence "Transfer him to adult court."…

Carl Rogers is best known for his contributions to therapy. Dr. Rogers felt that clients look to therapists for guidance, and will find it even when the therapist is not trying to guide. Carl Rogers' theory on guidance was focused on a person's "true self". Dr. Rogers said that in order for people to know their true selves, they had to focus on their self-concept. This consisted of a set of beliefs about behaviors, thoughts, and feelings that could be more or less conflicting with the person's real behaviors, thoughts, and feelings. A person whose self-concept was drastically different from their true self would constantly run into situations in which their behavior surprised or upset them. Rogers said that self-concept was influenced by society. Society disapproves of a wide range of behaviors, and many people choose to ignore those behaviors inside themselves. Rogers would listen non-judgmentally to the patient's statements and would reflect back so that the patient would accept his or her true self. He named his therapy, client-centered therapy. He felt that the client was the one who should say what is wrong, find the way to improve, and determine the conclusion of the therapy.…

Magma bubbles and smolders with calefaction below the coarse crust of our planet. It yearns for liberation from the constricting rocks and crevices in which it adheres. It roars with anticipation as it looks to advance into a forbidden dwelling. CRACK! It breaks the barrier of segregated ground, FREEDOM! In A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry, the main dynamic protagonist, Walter Lee Younger, also longed for an escape. He was forced to face an enemy that felt even more extreme than Earth’s inner core. Racial discrimination consumed him like a vacuum. Skepticism besieged from his family, destroyed the remnants of his former self. Although Walter encountered these hardships, continuously, he discovered himself to be his most prominent enemy. Despite his role as a major protagonist, Walter’s negative possession of gullibility as well as compulsiveness unceasingly enabled him to make poor decisions. Walter’s impetuous perception on the world finally comes to a halt, when he selfishly gave his sister, Beneatha’s medical school money away as well as his own. Although tragic and detrimental, the loss brings the Younger family closer together and in turn helps Walter find pride in himself.…
